You were using Level 3, right? Retaly, unless your skin is super-sensitive, you should use Level 6 ... it's much more effective. And if you want to use it in the morning, you should put it on right after cleansing, wait 30 minutes, apply a light moisturizer and/or sunscreen, and then blot gently but thoroughly. That'll take the shine off. Incidentally, I get more shine from the Level 3 than I do from either the 6 or the 9 .... not sure why.

cjb, I really hope the Diacneal does it for you ... sounds like it has worked very well for a number of people whose skin couldn't tolerate GC, so maybe it'll be the same for you! Keep us posted.

Yah, will definitely keep you all posted.

My skin is SUPER sensitive. I don't even like to use anything that isn't absolutely necessary in the a.m. because my skin just looks better then less I put on it. I was surprised that the GC didn't irritate it, but even the level 3 twice a day burnt my skin. I did go through a sample of level 6. It might be that I just can't use it at the required dosage/concentration that is required for it to be effective. Sigh, maybe I would just be better off letting "time" do its thing for my redmarks and give up on all products. My skin would probably be happiest that way. It would be great if I could just go live in the forest where no mirrors exist either.......

I'll use all the samples of diacneal, see what happens, and then decide. If anyone knows of a nice, secluded forest where I can go live, let me know.

why you quit the GC?

I've been using it about 2 months now, and it hasn't done anything for me. Plus, I am going to use diacneal at night, so I would have to use GC in the a.m.... it gives a weird shine to my face so I don't want to do that. Plus, diacneal + GC would probably be too strong on my skin, based on what GC twice a day was like - it burned my skin.

Well, you can always start with the Level 3 and see how it works for you.

TAKE NOTE, EVERYONE: Green Cream samples are NOT as strong as the full-sized product.

The sample packaging is not air-tight, and oxygen breaks down retinol.

The full-sized product comes in an air-tight container that stays air-tight until the product is entirely used up.

All right since I am having awful problems trying to get my bank to allow overseas payments.. I have some questions in the mean time since I'm putting a good 30 dollars into one tiny tube.

How long does a tube usually last?

Retin-A micro made my skin waaaay too dry and peeling, will the Retinaldehyd/Glycolic acid do the same?

What is the EXACt name of the stuff I want (I see both a gel and a cream)?

I see... btw what is the difference between GC to Diacneal? i mean Diacneal is retinol? also for yearly usage?

This will be a LOT less irritating than Retin A micro.

I'm planning to use it every other night and I'm thinking this tube will last quite awhile at that rate -- 6 weeks maybe? But since it's my first tube I don't know. Any seasoned users out there?

Mine is a cream but if I'd known there was a gel I would've gotten that instead ... I think gels penetrate better.

The active product in Green Cream is retinol. After retinol is absorbed into your skin, enzymes in your skin convert it to retinaldehyde and then to retinoic acid (which is the same thing as tretinoin, active ingredient in retin A).

Because this conversion is not very efficient, you need a much higher concentration of retinol to even approach the strength of retinoic acid. On the other hand, retinol is much less irritating to the skin.

Retinaldehyde, the active ingredient in Diacneal, is one step closer to retinoic acid so the conversion is a bit more efficient and you do not need quite so high a concentration for it to be effective. So Diacneal is probably less likely to irritate the skin than Green Cream. The glycolic acid apparently helps with exfoliation and also helps the retinaldehyde to penetrate the skin more deeply.

After the first week or two, most people can use Diacneal nightly.

I must add that the people at tubotica.com are super friendly, and they always answer my emails within 5 minutes to 4 hours. I'm paying the couple of dollars extra, just because I enjoy their service so much (plus they send free samples).

Also, another note, If you live in the US make sure your bank doesn't have overseas fraud protection (big pain to deal with).

Thanks LionQueen for answering my questions.

That's the one! If you're in Europe, Diacneal will be easier for you to get than Green Cream. And I think you might be just as happy with it. Try both and see what you think.

How exactly does diacneal work and for what skin problems? I hardly get zits anymore, but I have what I think is clogged pores on my forehead, nose, and cheeks next to my nose. It's red, oily, and bumpy and looks more like some kinda of fungus or rash than acne or clogged pores. And there is a distinct line on my left cheek between the bumpy, red skin and the clear, normal skin. I've used lots of different treatments, but my skin has been like this for almost 2 years. Could I just use diacneal on the bad parts of my face or would it make it look more uneven?

Diacneal, like Green Cream, is an effective OTC treatment for mild/moderate acne. Since Diacneal combines glycolic acid (an exfoliating AHA) with retinaldehyde, it is quite effective against comedonal acne (clogged pores). You could certainly use it just on that part of your face, but since retinoids have anti-aging properties as well, it would probably be beneficial to use it evenly all over your face.

Diacneal is not as strong as Retin A ... have you tried that already? If you are not certain that your skin condition is due to clogged pores, it might be a good idea to see a derm ...

Hey Queen...I was wondering if you are still using the peptides or not? Do you find them irritating or did you (depending on if and when you used them). I was looking at the site and am interested in trying them for some scars that I have.

Thanks for your help!!!

How does this fit in with your jessfoliation process?? I mean you cannot be exfoliating twice in one day... so how do you work with this and that at the same time?

Yes, I am still using the peptides. A bunch of nasty-looking tissue did purge out of one of my facial scars, and I had high hopes that the thing was going to disappear entirely ... but it re-healed, the indents are still there, and I don't think they are going anywhere without further action on my part. I think I'm going to have to try TCA cross or needling if I want to get rid of my facial scars, but it's a low priority right now ... I only have a few little pits and they don't bother me much. I keep meaning to get some of the more powerful CPs and tackle my body scars, but I guess that's not a really high priority for me either!

Anyway, if you decide to use CPs, here are a few words of advice: 1) Go very slowly and be patient ... these are long-term products and the only effects you'll see by hurrying things along are negative ones. 2) Only use the serums -- never the creams! -- all over your face. Start with the regular CP serum. Dilute it with water if your skin feels irritated. Once you can handle regular applications at full strength, start thinking about moving up to Super CP Serum. If you have tough scars, you might spot-treat them with one of the more powerful creams ... I haven't tried this.

I also recommend joining the Diana Yvonne skin care board ... lots of good UNBIASED advice about CPs there. The SkinBio board apparently has a bad habit of deleting anything negative that people say about the products!

I usually jessfoliate at night with the toothbrush and the enzyme peel to get rid of dead skin. Then I do a quick, gentle cleanse/rinse and apply whatever treatment I'm using that night.
