I'm 13 years old. Good and healthy, almost 6 feet tall and in grade 8. I've suffered from acne since April/May/June of 2005 until now. At some points it almost completely cleared up and I really started thinking about it, not giving a fuck whatsoever is key. I've been looking over these forums, posts, and pages for about 3 weeks now and I see a lot of different discoveries by different members however, the most intriguing one I found, was the one about not washing your face, and letting the sebum development slowly control itself and then for weeks and weeks I was drilling myself, I had been doing something through November/December that had REALLY kept my face clear like there was literally no pimples on my forehead, which is now covered and disgusting, and my cheeks were covered by, what maybe one or two pimples and well my nose had black heads, but I couldn't care less about those. Anyways, I had been thinking forever and it hit me. When my acne sparked, I was freaking out, trying every method availible to get rid of the damn pimples and then in the summer I just kinda gave up, all my school friends we're out having a blast, and I was at my cottage, with a few others who also owned cottages, who didn't care about my acne. When school started up in september, and I was finally in my last year of elementary school, my acne was back in fuller force. I started using 10% BP cream over night every night, see I had a crush on a girl, and I was determined to get rid of my acne. In October the girl I liked and myself started going out, and I realized, she could see straight through my acne prone face and it was there and then that I had stopped using these STUPID acne medications. In December, she ripped my heart in half and stomped on it, it was only a small crush, one that I would forget about in the near future, however, frustrated, and angry, I think it was then and there that I started washing my face more and more, and attempting to use stupid pads (like Oxy) and other useless acne medications that would ruin my skin in January, my face started getting worse, the forehead acne was back, with a fury. I tried more products, more things, more skin wrecking medications through January and Febuary and didn't realize that what I was doing wasn't helping. Now I sit, in March, my face COVERED in acne, with nothing to lose and I haven't started yet, but I'm almost 100% positive that if I just leave my disgusting acne prone face alone, that it will slowly but surely clear up.

That is one hell of a long story, sorry for the filler, hope you guys like my grammar tongue.gif.

Have a nice day,
Nolan Baker

P.S. This is just my own two cents, I couldn't care less if you think everything I stated is wrong, its what God is telling me to do, and it's what I'm telling myself to do.

Im thinking of just washing my face and letting God sort my skin out Lol...

Yeah, I really think it'll work. For a while I was thinking it had something to do with some marijuana I tried in December... but the acne started real bad in like January and so I don't think thats related. Yeah I know, I've smoke marijuana at 13, pretty bad here up in Canada eh?

Oh and just for the record, I forgot to let you guys know that me and my girlfriend got back together, yeah I know we're kinda young, but I would take a bullet for her anyday.

no offense but leaving your acne alone isnt going to do a thing.. your 13 and your hormones are raging.. when i was your age i had a good amount of acne too.. and it only got worse when i didnt use anything.

Hey Nolan,

What if... the base cause of acne was large pores. When we wash with soap and the pore is large enough then the oil can be washed right out of the pore leaving an open pathway for bacteria to get in.

By going all natural and not washing with soap would stop this. But the bacteria that has already gotten under your skin and the plugs that have already formed are going to be a problem.

Therefore a possible experiment for yourself could be to stop using soap or cleansers on your face but do use a bacteria fighter such as benzoyl peroxide.

P.S. The above is not backed by science whatsoever. It is just one wild ass guess brought on by experience and observation.

Yeah, I realize theres no real reason that the method I'm trying will work whatsoever. Nothing can really back this up in anyway, and chances are, it'll make me worse but I'm going to go with my gut on this one. See in October/November I still did an occasional face wash, and I had a shower once a day, and I didn't let oil sit on my face for hour after hour after hour after hour, I would usually wash in the morning and at night before bed. Then the sebum overnight would adjust and during school and throughout the day, and those few hours after school, I guess it would adjust too. Anyways, I'm still gonna wash my face. But no cleansers, soap, acne products, bacteria killers, nothing, and my face washes will be short and not often. Anyways, like I said, its my own two cents, my gut feeling, and I feel its what I need to do.

Share your opinions,
Nolan Baker

probably the reason you cleared up over the summer when you had fun with your freinds is beacuse you got a lot of sun. you said you went up to a cottage right? when I went up to this kick ass lake over the summer, I was on dynacin and all sort of shit to use for acne. I didn't use any of it there, didnt even wash my face very much and i was COMPLEtely clear. the sun works wonders.

This might be it, but I also cleared up in October/November/part of December, and there really isn't much sun during these times, but there still is I guess.

Edit: I really don't think much happened, but this morning when I woke up after not washing, I had a newly formed white heads on my forehead, well bacteria is obviously going to get trapped, I kind've expected this, but the few spots on my cheeks are kinda fading. Probably just an illusion, or the lighting or something.

i really like your ending line: "Share your opinions, Nolan Baker." that's cute.

you also write very very clearly and with great maturity, which is amazing and unusual both because you are 13 and because this is an acne messageboard where people tend to get hysterical and incoherent.

um, so yes. bravo. keep up the good writing. and good luck with your 'no-regimen' regimen. my advice to you would be to do everything to preserve your skin's resilency so it does not scar: eat healthy, sleep well and regularly, exercise, and do not, do not, do NOT irritate your face red and raw. no. do not.

take care!
igmp

Cute is me, lol just kidding. I like you guys, you really help me stay determined, well err most of you! tongue.gif. I think I might up it to washing with a face cloth at night before bed, I know that is said to irritate the skin, but really I used to do it and my acne never got worse from it, what do you guys have to say about that?
