I guess we need a bigggg luck in this process..

Hi kaz12
Thanks for you too...
Glad to know that I am not alone smile.gif.

Jlrm..
Glad knowing that you are better and cured well with Accutane..
Hope mine will be better soon.

Yoyoman21..
Same here... breaking out like crazy too..
Really hope this stage will pass soon....

Guys..

Thanks a lot for the encouragement..
It really helps to reduce all the stress because of this IB.
Currently my face is quite horrible in my 34 days of Roaccutane smile.gif
I have so many nodules at my cheek.. They are red and close to each other..
They are really painful esp when I wash my face...
How did you guys wash your face during this horrible time?

corrine, it'll be fine, it takes time for your skin to get better on Accutane. Check out my pics in my gallery, I used to have horrible skin with nodules all over, and now my skin is the nicest it has ever been in my life.

good luck and stay well! smile.gif

I am actually wondering.. how does all the nodules dissapear just like that?
Does it come out first? Or it will just dried out and then gone?

Currently I have a few nodules on my cheek.. They are very red.
It has been there for quite sometimes.

Sometimes the white puss come out but after that they are still big and red..
What should I do?

Day 34..
Still have 7 nodules on my right cheek and 5 at my left cheek (since last week)
Hopefully they will subside soon.
As they are very red and the diameter is very big.. some are more than 1 cm....
Looks very ugly and horrible

Today I had a 1-1 meeting with my supervisor..
She said I'm doing well in my job and making a good progress (I am only working in this company for around 4 months)..
I feel so gladd.... wub.gif

She said last time her cousin also has the same problem.. then ask me to use cucumber on the face.
Hehehe.. may be my face looks so bad and red...

again, don't worry corrine, 3 months is when I had no more new pimples, and 5 months was when the red marks and scars began to fade.

It takes time but it's worth it! BTW Don't you hate it when people tell you stupid things like "use cucumber on your face", I'm always like "use cucumber on your brain" evil.gif

hauhauha..
yeah thanks jlrm.. amused.gif
i guess for roaccutane patience is the key to success..

regarding my supervisor comment... hehe that's fine for me, she just concern a little bit as she was shock seeing my face changed drastically smile.gif

From today onwards.. I just be more positive and self acceptance..

Day 35

My current situation:
Chap lips..(as usual).
Only small little pimples on the forehead.
Left cheek no improvement
Right cheek still have 7 nodules, but 2 has changed to those with white puss inside.. I don't dare to take it out.. Scared that it will leave scars later.

Face still red and the scars is still very obvious.. but now I don't care anymore..
Heheh... guess I am already so used to it.

I find that this website is very good.
THere are a lot of people experiencing the same problem with me.
Talk really helps.. amused.gif

Day 36

I THINK today there is no new pimples. (heheh there may be a new one.. I already lost count).

Current situation:

Dry Lips (as usual)
Pimples at my left cheek start to dry (with black dry skin on it... I guess that is a good sign)
Still have a lot at my right cheek.. Still painful. Some started to dry.. also leave that ugly black skin.. smile.gif.. hehe
My eyes started to feel dry.. I started to use EyeMo twice a day.

I will go for Wesley Counselling Services this Saturday to have someone to talk about my stress due to Roaccutane.
I guess this medicine really affect me both physically and mentally.
I seldom go out nowadays.. to avoid the sunlight.. I am scared to use sunscreen as it may create another breakout.

Hopefully this IB period is going to over soon ... amused.gif..

I am at office with tons of things to do..
But refuse to do none of them because I had meeting in 30 minutes.
So I guess it's better to delay them and update my log first smile.gif

Ohh no I spent so many times looking at other people log.. instead of doing my job.. hehehe..
Sometimes it just feel better knowing that I am not the only one who experience this suffering breakout.

Honestly.. this is the period where my face is in the worse condition all my life.
Sometimes, it feels very discourage when you got up in the morning.. looking at your face which looks and feel very horrible.

Currently my left cheek feel very itchy... and red of course. I think this is due to the dry pimples there.
2 days a go I pop up a pimples... (my hands are very itchy whenever I see white bumps hehe).
Now the scars is drying.. but becomes like 3 times bigger.. and itchy,, itchy itchy,,

Pimples2x please go away,,,

Please don't let me whine over it.

GOsh.. I got outing tommorow with my colleague..
Hope things will be better,,

For those of you out there,,
All the best with your Accutane journey,,

Today.. I will only work for 1/2 day.. yayy..

In the afternoon, the pricing team will be having a great BBQ in one of my colleague house.

I'll be preparing dessert, drink and snacks,
We will have satay, chicken, japanese food, veggie, ice cream, mango pudding.. huahh..
Hehehe.. sounds good..

My current condition:
Today I only have a few new pimples.
One at my right cheek.. a bump, but this one can be covered with my hair.
A few under my eyes...(there are a few white heads start to develop there).
Right cheek still very red, lots of scars and pigmentation.
Is there any way to slighty reduce the dark red scars due to the old pimples?

This morning I have one on my chin.. but it's already gone...
My left cheek still no improvement.
Forehead looks the same with yesterday.

Lips still very dry, as well as my eyes..
Now I start to have this back pain...

Now I am so used to my rough skin when washing it,, so I feel less stress. which I think very good smile.gif.
Less stress means less pimples...

smile.gif
Got to work now...
Have a nice day..

Hi there corrine-
Glad things are moving along nicely for you. Patience is such a key factor in this journey. Everytime I get a new bump, I just tell myself that is one less pore clogged, soon no more clogs at all! Keep up the great attitude! Have a great day!

Hope this day will pass on soon.

By the way today I go for Counselling Services to solve my depression problem.

Dont worry about the complainging, its your log, do what ever you want, say whatever you want. This is a great place to come and vent frustrations. It isn't always easy to talk to loved ones, friends, or even face to face with someone about acne. I know its not for me. No one even knows that I am taking this drug, or ever went to a dermatologist. Well, I guess my mom knows because there was a mess up with insurance. It got billed to my moms insurance instead of my own so she knows but not by choice! An IB sucks but will pass.

My face is very bumpy..
It has been like that for around 3 weeks..
Is this normal?

And my right cheek is a bit painful and extremely red...
There is a big cysts (VERY BIG).

Guys.. how many days does it take for your big cysts to subside when taking Roaccutane..
And does it create those nasty thing with white puss inside first or it just sibside automatically?

Ive only had a few big ones since starting and they went down fast but that WONDERFUL red mark stayed quite a while. I had one that pussed, and the other one didn't. Don't know if that helped or not, just remember everyone is different:) Have a great day

Corrine,

I read your log and it sounds like your IB is lasting longer than mine did. I hope you see some improvement soon. Here are a couple of suggestions: talk to your derm about what you can take to help control this breakout. My derm was willing to give me an antibiotic while I was on Accutane (and I've heard of others who have done this). I even got a script, but didn't use it because things started to improve. Secondly, if you have a good derm who can see you on short notice, you can get those big cysts injected with kenalog (a steroid) which usually stops them dead in their tracks. I've had several of these injections and they are great! They hurt a bit when you get them, but the cysts will start to heal almost immediately.

I've also heard of derms prescribing prednosone (sp?), but I don't know anything about it.

Finally, use all the support on this site to encourage you. There are lots of people who are going through the same thing (or have in the past) and it helps so much to know that you are not alone.

Maybe I'll post this to your log also to make sure you don't miss it.

Keep hanging in there!

P&W

hey Cor, thanks for the post in my thread.

Hmm, for me, it took about a month and a half to see my face completely clear. But I just broke out a cyst again so im very sad but afer this one hopefully i'll enjoy more than 2 weeks of clearness.

But for general people, it seems to start clearing your skin at about 2 1/2 month mark. Thats the general concensus here I think.

But remember, various people on this board have begun healing in their 4th month, or even 5th although rare.

Be strong, it'll work for you just like it worked for someone like me.

Hi trenem...
Thanks..
Yeah.. I guess different people has different side effect on Roaccutane..
Some people don;t even have any initial breakout.. yeah so wonderful
I guess for my case because I had lots of blackheads.. (though I don't have cyst before).. so somehow it becomes big..

Hi P&W
What antibiotics did your derm prescribe to you?
Actually I have asked him a couple times whether there is a way to actually reduce the Initial breakout as it was horrible..
He just told me to be patient and be more thick skin..
Oh gosh.. eusa_wall.gif

JCx1984
Hope your face will be cleared again after this second breakout..
I'll be STRONG... amused.gif

Day 39

My face is still very bumpy as usual.
Just pop up a few pimples on my face because they are bleeding when I wash my face.
So I might as well as take them out.. heheh..

My left cheek... there are a few volcanoes waiting to erupt.
Quite a lot there making my cheek a bit swollen...

My right cheek.. not much different with yesterday.

I got a few new pimples on my forehead, chin, and cheek..
But I already lost count of them. surprised.gif

Heheh...
It's just another day .. life goes on...

By the way.. I might be going to my derm tommorow.. hopefully for injection as this cysts start to get on my nerve..
Anybody know what kind of antibiotics is save to be taken with Roaccutane?
I heard that we can't take Doxy and Minocyn with it..

Spending my weekend at home..
Watching TV, cooking and cleaning some stuff.

It's a little bit hot these few days..
Hoahh..
Yesterday I slept for more than 12 hours.
I never sleep this much before.. smile.gif
But it really feels good when I wake up..
Feel very refreshed .. smile.gif.

By the way.. this is a question that I wanted to ask.
Have you ever experience that your small pimples (blackheads) actually becomes big when taking Roaccutane?

I actually just have a blackhead.. but the next day it turns to a cyst..
Is there anyway to actually prevent this from happenings?

I dunno if everyone has IB early or later. But I was put on 80mg after 5 days.

Maybe talk to your doctor about upping your dosage if you are still getting bad cysts. All my cysts went awya within 3 weeks...knock on wood. I haven't had any new ones pop up and I think I had severe acne. Many cysts and nodules before I started Accutane.

I know the side effects are worse as you go higher dosage but maybe that's what ya need to get rid of them cysts!!

Good Luck to you!!!

Hi Firegurl..
Thanks for the suggestion.
I will ask my doctor about this for sure.
Currently I am only 20 mg/day.. and already breaking out like crazy that's why my derm is afraid to put me on higher dosage.

Before taking Roaccutane I don't have this severe pimples actually.
I only have 1 to 2 nodules on my cheek.. Not around 20 like right now..
I tought everybody else also experience this.
If you are not.. then I better talk to my doctor.
Thanks..

Day 40

40 days passed..
My current condition :
My left cheek.. the pimples that I popped up yesterday started to dry out.
Still have a few cysts on my left cheek...but overall looks better.
I think there is no new pimples here.

My right cheek
Still bumpy and looks quite horrible.
A few volcanoes smile.gif hehehe hope they will dried out soon and never come back.

My chin..
There are a few new pimples I guess...

My forehad..
Also have a few new small pimples..

Sometimes I was wondering.. where are these pimples and cyst comes from as prior to Roaccutane I don't have this much .... hohoho..

Answering to myself : May be I have lots of clogged pores.. yeah..
Will keep updating my journal...
Have a nice day to all of you out there...

Hi guys..
Just want to ask..
How often did you usually visit your derm (every month) during your course of Roaccutane.
My derm is kind enough that he only charged me the medicine cost otherwise I'll go bankrupt.. smile.gif..

And then.. does your moisturizer keep your face moisturize the whole day?
For my case, I work in Air con room..
IN the middle of the day.. the moisturizer seems to stop functining and make my skin dry again.
But I already use some loose powder so I can't reapply my moisturizer.

Thanks...
