hello everyone,
I have had acne since i was about 11, i am now just turning into 16. My mum, my dad and my sister all had acne. My acne has been reasonably bad for the past 4 years and i have accpeted that fact. So when i was 12 i told my doctor and he prescribed me some tablets which i am still taking called ERYTHROMYCIN, these tablets have made my acne slightly better over the years, but over the last couple of months my spots have really blown up. I am starting to get them alot on my cheeks and neck. So my docter prescribed and cream called BENZAMYCIN which has to refrigerated. Now, my family say my acne seems to be drying up, but the other saturday i was ment to be meeting this really nice girl at the cinema but my face became swollen when i woke up in the morning, and since then it has been swelling up on various days when i wake up, so i stoped using it. Now my face has become worse, i cant stand having spots anymore, im in so much pain, PLEASE HELP......
Thanks
Cant get worse

Consider getting a new dermatologist. Your current guy hasn't really given you much from the toolkit.
I tried ERYTHROMYCIN for a while. It really didn't work for me. I was much better served by tetracycline. But that wasn't perfect either, and after years on it, I just didn't like the idea of the long term potential.
I got the doc to give me accutane. That worked great. I was clear for a few years. But my oil production has resumed somewhat so I have mild acne again. Which is why I am here.
If you have severe acne, try to talk to your doc about accutane.
