I've heard from so many sources that acne on the chin and jawline is associated with hormone imbalances, but I'm still wondering why? Why would it only affect these areas and not the forehead and other areas as well? Are glands on the chin more sensitive to androgens or something?

Is there anybody who knows about this stuff and can explain the physiology behind why that is? Or maybe it's really not true? I can't find the answer and it's pissing me off!

Thanks!

good question, i've always wondered why different people get acne in different areas of the face.

seams like a reasonable hypothesis... if in fact acne on the chin is more hormonally driven.

i sometimes see people with only acne on the forhead.

myself, i hardly get any acne on the jawline, or side burn area. its mostly concentrated in my T zone.

yea, that's what i'm wondering about too. i've heard that forehead acne is associated with toxin buildup (from constipation, for example), stress, poor sleeping, anxiety, etc.

i treat my entire face with the same products and yet forehead is the only place i would breakout. i get a pimple on my cheeks or chin like once every 2 years of something.

I get acne on my jawline.... it's the only place I get deeper ones. Although I haven't gotten one there in a month or two since starting retin-a smile.gif but I still have brown marks that have to clear up.

I've noticed that when I eat ANY amount of junk food, or drink any milk I get huge zits on my forehead.

Right now I'm eating healthy foods, and I only have acne on my frickin chin, so I guess your right, It must be hormonal.

Jojoba oil is working wonders for me, but even If I have a little bit of sugar, my face explodes.

I get acne on my chin around that time of the month. My chin is the most prone area for acne on my face.

My forehead stays clear, my cheeks usually stay mostly clear.

My frontal chin and jawline is COMPLETELY perfect. I'm talking red-mark free, babyass smooth perfect, along with my forehead. This wasn't always the case, as I did have some light/moderate acne on those areas in times past, but it was never anything too terrible. NOW, as for my cheeks/around my mouth, absolutely terrible. Deep, cystic pustules along with blackheads and redmarks galore.

I have absolutely no idea why this is. /cry

Wow, I didn't know that. It's kind of interesting though b/c that is exactly where I tend to get most of my pimples. My cheeks are completely clear and I don't have much of a problem with my nose or forehead (except for blackheads).

Will see anyway, I've actually started Dianne-35ED, so if my acne is hormonal I'm hoping this will work. smile.gif

In my teens I was using birth control and never had acne. Maybe a small zit or two but nothing to worry about. I switched to a lower hormone pill and now I am struggling to get rid of my acne so maybe hormones do have something to do with it.

well imo, hormonal acne affects anywhere on the face but i think the jawline and chin area are the MOST SENSITIVE to androgens. i also think that if you have hormonal imbalance combined with poor digestion (constipation, etc.), poor liver function, "bad" diet, etc. can contribute acne on the forehead or basically anywhere on the face. biggrin.gif

hope this helps. eusa_angel.gif

I get acne the worst on my jawline and chin, like cystic.

They won't put me on birth control for it though because they don't think it'll do anything for it. Apparently, since my periods are pretty regular, then my acne can't be from a hormone problem. I dunno, I think there's possibly a little something up with my hormones. I get more bodyhair than any girl my age I know, and I'm not of any ethnic background that you'd associate with hairiness.

I want to get on birth control to see if it helps, but I guess I'll just have to go to a clinic. Dunno what I'll say though, since my periods are regular and I'm not sexually active, and I don't think they'd give it to me for acne. Are certain forms better than others? I think I'll just lie and say I'm sexually active but push certain acne-killing brands.

I seem to get acne almost completely on my chin, around the mouth and lips. Masturbation tends to affect these areas the most too. Very rarely on my forehead, temples and cheeks.

For some reason, my chin is the clearest part of my face....I have never had 1 single pimple on my chin. But the most prone area of my face is the right side of my cheek, It sucks because I have alot of red marks there and nowhere else. sad.gif
