I've heard that oils like jojoba and emu can protect the skin from the sun but it's the equivalent to a pretty low SPF, less then 10 I believe. I've used olive oil, it's good as a mask to soften up black heads / tiny white heads so they come off as you wipe the oil off with your hands. I use jojoba oil for that same thing now, I believe it wipes off the dead skin too but that's just my theory. I think olive oil is too greasy to use a moisturizer though, jojoba absorbs best, better then olive or emu.

darlin, YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!!! wooooot!!! no more sunscreen for me!!!! i hate putting so much stuff on my face.

thanks sooo soo much1!

Well there shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're barely in the sun, but if you spend longer then 15 minutes outside in the sunlight I'd suggest actually getting some sun screen. If you hate your sunscreen then opt for a more expensive one with an aloe base and zinc oxide. Zinc oxide temporarily makes red marks appear less red once you rub it in.

Hey I'm curious about the mixing as well.

How many drops of Jojoba to a drop of Tea tree?

Just depends on how much your skin can handle, everyone is different. I'd use about 3 or 4 drops for one drop TTO if i applied it all over.

OMG yes! I have only used it for about a week (morning/night) and I can definitely tell a difference in red marks, which rocks because this is my major problem now. The best part is my skintone is beginning to look so nice that a couple pimples here and there don't look that bad. I love it. I'm still waiting for the inital breakout, hopefully i'll slink by without one.

I'm glad to hear everyone's having success with this excellent oil! Your skin will thank you in the long run!

Another Oil I want to mention is Neem. Before I put the Jojoba and Tea Tree oil on my face, I cleanse with Neem oil. Although Neem does stink, it is very powerful, and in my opinion, it works way better than tea tree.....

anyways, i wanted to update my results with jojoba.

i've been using it almost every night for a month now. this is the method i like: after i cleanse my face, i pour out probably just 2-3 drops of jojoba oil onto my palm, then massage it onto my face while it's still wet (not damp, but dripping wet). massage face gently for about a minute, rinse, and pat dry with a towel.

i find using it on a wet face allows for better distribution than using it dry or damp. and there's less friction so less chance of "tearing" at skin and developing wrinkles. rinsing also washes away excess oil. either you use it dry, damp, or wet, your face still feels so soft and smooth. so you might to try all three to see which method you prefer. it works as a nightime moisturizer (in conjunction with aloe vera gel) for me. jojoba + aloe is a great combo for me. i don't use any acne creams/topicals/medication.

i had great skin in the first week. but i broke out starting in the second week, however im not sure if jojoba was to blame, it could've also been attributed to hormones/mentrual cycle. but apparently jojoba has purging powers and brings everything to the surface to get rid of it, thus resulting in purging breakouts. anyways, it's the 4th week now and my skin looks great. i think it's even helping to dissolve blackheads, what a wonderful surprise, wink.gif.

i purchased my bottle from a local health store, the kind that carries vitamins and stuff. when i found out they carried skincare prods and essential oils, i was somewhat surprised (in a good way). i very much suggest taking a trip down there to see the skincare prods offered at health stores. they are similar in price to drugstore prods, and possibly work better. my acv, aloe vera gel, and jojoba are all from there. and all three are better than any "chemical" and mass-marketed prods i've tried. anyways, i purchased the cheapest jojoba oil there: 4oz for cnd$21.99, after tax, it's cnd$25.

i'm gonna continue jojoba for another month to see if the results are consistent. but from my skin condition so far, i would suggest trying it out.

For those who mix jojoba with tea tree, do you just chuck the 2 bottles in together or do you have to mix a small amount every day?????????????

Most people probably just mix it everyday. I don't want to risk wasting 20 bucks on them to find that it ruins the oils. How about you go ahead and try it for us, since youre so curious?

I don't reccomend mixing them together in a bottle. It didn't work well when I tried that. Just mix them before you put them on, that way they are fresh!

I strongly reccomend Neem! I am discovering that Neem is way more powerful than Tea Tree. I might just try mixing Jojoba with Neem instead of Tea Tree!

I just bought a thing of Jojoba and a thing of TT. Think I should just ditch the TT and buy some Neem?

No, don't throw out the Tea Tree oil! It's very effective, but Neem is much better in my opinion!

My daughter has alot of bumps like you mention on her forehead and sides of her face - kind of by the hairline too. Is the Jojoba oil helping this - she's currently using Klaron and it is not doing much anymore. When you said you broke out the 2nd week - did you get more of the bumps or were they red and inflamed?

are we referring to the same kind of bumps? mine is colourness and tiny. they occur in patches. on the forehead, temple area, and along hairline. when they dry, i can scratch off a tiny (<2mm) sebum plug. and that's usually the end of them.

and yes, i think it is helping. jojoba was the only thing i changed in my regimen, so i can doubtless say the improvement can be attributed back to jojoba. i think the key lies in taking the time to massage the oil gently onto skin, cuz it can help in dissolving these sebum plugs, i do it for about 30sec-1min. my breakout in the 2nd week was quite unusual. in less than 24 hours, my skin went from beautiful to ghastly. the breakouts were actual red inflamed pimples. i think i had 3 or 4 noticable ones, then a bunch of smaller ones scattered around. but don't let this discourage your daughter from trying it out. jojoba is such a magical and valuable oil. even if i had perfect skin i would still use it as a moisturizer, definitely better than any of those chemical mass-marketed ones. jojoba is pure and natural.
