This looks really cool. Almost too good to be true. But it is risk free, so I ordered one, and I will tell you how it works when it arrives -

Hi, Folks. I'm a member of the Lumiport team. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about the DermaStyle device. So if you'd like to post them in this thread, I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Hello, Mac:

Yes. My personal experience and that of our group of testers has been very positive. On mild and moderate blemishes, a 10 minute session in the evening will produce a significant reduction in the size of a blemish and even more significanly reduce redness by morning. Repeated again the following evening, the blemish will be significantly reduced in size again. Many blemishes will clear by the third morning and most within a week.

It's a spot treatment, though, so if you want to treat, say, your whole cheek, you'll want to spend more time. The goal is to deliver enough light energy of the right frequency (energy measured in joules per square centimeter) to the affected area. So if you have a few isolated blemishes, 5-10 minutes per day per blemish is usually effective. Larger areas will require more time to be as effective.

The testimonials on the site are really very typical responses. Even the one that seems to be "over the top" (JB Hendricksen) is literally cut and pasted from his unsolicited email to us. I spoke personally to his son and his daughter after we received his message and they validated his message. But still, his comments are so full of hyperbole that we should perhaps rethink using it. Take a look at the site again on Monday and by then we'll have put up more interviews with actual testers. We're also pulling together before and after shots (and getting the approval of their subjects) for the site. You'll see these on the site in a couple of weeks.

So, Mac, in short, yes. It seems to work well for most people. I'm sure there are cases for which it will be not effective, but we have recieved less than 1% of our shipments back and the news back from customers has been positive. As we learn more, we'll post news and guidance here and on our site.

Thanks.

Hello Lumiport,

This really sounds very, very interesting. My acne has pretty much settled but I get the ocassional pimple every week or two. I am wondering if this product would just help get rid of pimples or if it could help acne scars or other blemishes (freckles, blackheads, sun damaged skin etc.). Also, does it ship to Australia? Cheers.

I've just purchased a light therapy kit from Sci\Art. I bought two blue lights and one red. I decided to buy them after success with Light therapy at my Derms. I've only been using my kit since Wednesday, so i'll have to wait a bit to report results.

Jonnathann:

Our DermaStyle product is specifically designed to address inflammation and blemishes. Blackheads are really just dark plugs of skin cells, sebum and dirt which are stuck at the top of a pore. The light treatment will likely not affect them, but does appear to be helpful in reducing redness and swelling that's usually present under a blackhead. Once that's gone, the blackhead will usually slough off. As for freckles and sun damaged skin, our product was not designed to address those issues. Our research on collagen production with light treatment looks promising, however. We expect to have a product in that area sometime later this year. L.

I have a question about the 10 minutes per day. Is that 10 minutes per blemish? Do you need to stand still in front of a mirror for 10 minutes for each one? That could take a long time.

Believe it or not I have read that a regular lazer pointer ( something that can be bought at your local office supply store for 20 bucks or less) is just as effective as these things. But I don't really know.

we'll Ive made an order, aparently its shipping later today. I know its expensive compared to a tube of topical, but it if it works it will be worth it.

The 30 day garentee is still valid in the UK too, they said to just email them telling them Ill be sending it back for a refund if Im not happy within 30 days. So hopefully Ill be able to judge if its having any affect before then.

The only thing Im scared of is if the delivery man lumps on import duty when the package arrives, as they sometimes do when I get stuff sent from the US.

Well, I recieved the pen... (I was the one who started this thread, but I got banned for some reason... Maybe someone thought I was advertising?)

Anyways, I used it for a long time last night. Maybe about 30 minutes or more. I don't know if I was just imagining this or not, or maybe it was from the wash I used beforehand, but it seemed like I was getting a weird feeling while I was using it. If you watched the animation on the video, it seemed like I could imagine that happening while I used it. Call me crazy. Anyways, this morning my face looked a little bit better. Lots of redness was gone, and it seemed like the two whiteheads that I had were about to burst... seems like it's working pretty well so far.. will have to see what happens over the next week or so.

well, i've used a similar product (i'll not name who, what or how much as it wouldn't be fair to these guys)

It was red only, not red and blue.

I can vouch for the red-light part anyways. It greatly reduced the swelling and redness. I'd hold it against a prominent zit or wound for 2 mins before i went to bed. By the next morning, there was a great reduction in the swelling and healing - what would normally take 48 hours without treatment.
