Hello!
this is my first post here and im glad to see a forum full of people who support each other through this horrible thing called acne.
i am glad to say that for the past 2 months i have been TOTALLY clear. not one break out, complete clear skin. since i was 13, (i'm 18 now), ive had mild/slight acne, nothing severe, just one or two zits every 2 weeks or so, but like everyone else, i was so self concious even over a single zit. for years i used this regimen based on BP, and it never completely cleared me. (keep in mind i had very slight acne so it may be different).
my point is, there is not "REGIMEN." every ones skin is so different, with different types of acne, in different places, for different reasons and causes, there is no one cure. for me what has completely cleared my face, is washing with a mild soap, retin a twice a day, and tetrycycline, this worked for me, but not for all, but here is what i suggest ALL of you do.
1. drink LOTS and LOTS of water, you don't know how good it is to drink at least 3 cups a day, your body, not just your acne, will fell so much better, if you look at the liquids you normally drink, soda, juices, they have so much sugar in them it only makes sense that they affect your acne, drink water trust me.
2. find a diet that works for you, and stick with it BUT don't torture yourself, i see pople with severe acne that will never ever eat a candy bar or have something good to eat for ffear of acne, don't let acne ruin your life, live a little.
3. get LOTS and LOTS of sleep, at least 7 hours a night, for me less stress and more energy equals less acne.
4. when you sleep, make sure your pillows and blankets stay clean, try not to sleep on your face, wash your hands before you go to bed because you wont believe how much you touch your face in your sleep! keep hair away from your face, hair has a lot of oil and bacteria. point is you want to keep as much bacteria from you face as much as possible, keep in mind dirt and bacteria arent the initial cause of acne, but it does help to inflame acne.
5. find a regimen that works for you, bp and salicycid acid didn't completely rid it, with retin a i never saw another pimple again.
6. most importantly, ENJOY LIFE. with or without acne, enjoy life, don't let it get to you. i remember when i'd get a zit on my forehead, i'd stay in all weekend, making excuses to my girlfriend that i was sick or busy. dont let it embarass you, if it helps, joke about it around your friends, ease the tension, you have to learn that acne is just a part of you that you will have to live with, we all have problems and imperfections, learn to live with it and accept it as a part of you, if someone judges you based on your acne, there shallow. i'll admit that a girl with sever acne makes her less attractive, but im still open to meeting and hanging out with that girl and whatever, but just live your life the way you normally would, don't lock yourself in your room away from the world, live your life, your young, when you get older and live in the real world, you'll regret all the weekends you spent couped up in home.
