I've noticed that a lot of people are asking the same couple of questions about the cure. I just started it today so I can't tell you if it works, but I can tell you about the supplies needed.

Inoticed a lot of people couldn't find the 8% GLycolic Acid. The best thing to do is get the generic stuff. All the name brand stuff containing Glycolic Acid also has a lot of other stuff, not to mention the amound of Glycolic acid is usually less then 8%. We have walgreens around here and not only to they have their own brand of 8% glycolic acid but one is a cream (for the face) and one is a lotion (for the body). Now, the jar says Alpha Hydroxy, that is esxactly what glycolic acid is so thats the name your looking for.

As for the benefits of benzoil peroxide being chilled. Well when i used benzaclyn (basically a stronger version) it always said to chill it. My guess is that the active ingedient works better at below room temp. I also know that is has a shorter shelf life and can become useless after a month, especially if its not refridgarated. When benzyclin is picked up at the pharmacy, the pharmacist mixes the cream with a powder called the clinda-pack, and some water. This is because it would go bad just sitting around premixed.

Ihope this answers some questions and since this is my 1st post I hope to keep in touch and share my positive :) results.

=D> THANK YOU!!! I said the same thing about 5 different times in various posts about buying your GA at Walgreens and getting a generic brand

I think we need to stress that Dr. Dubrow is clear (in the book) about the GA being a certain strength and not being mixed with other products. Many people on here are buying lotions and vitamin creams that HAVE GA in it. That is not what Dr. Dubrow suggests. He states that you need GA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) between 8-10% concentration. If these things are mixed together or in products that have other acne fighting products mixed in with them they WON'T work as well.

Please dont' cut corners while doing this treatment. It benefits you to follow it perfectly in order to insure the results that you CAN have on this :( routine if you do as he suggests.

you can't say later that something didn't work if you didn't really follow the directions as they were specified.

I have to ask this cuz i still haven't heard a clear answer:

At night when you rub your face with the ice cube it seems to be wet, are you supposed to dry it off and then apply the cold bp, or do you go ahead and apply the bp to your wet face?

Okay as per the book Verbatim:

1. run an ice cube over the area you intend to treat to cool down the skin until it is thoroughly wet and feels cold to the touch, but be careful no to freeze your skin.

2. apply the BP (that you have kept cold in your refrigerator) using essentially the same technique you used for the SA and the GA. However, first cool down the palm of your hand with the ice cube to avoid warming up the BP too much. Place a small amount of the cool BP cream or lotion in your palm, then apply it evenly across all areas of the skin that show any traces of acne.

3. once you have applied the BP over the affected (and cool and wet) area, place one or more cold packs on the affected areas (obviously if you suffer from acne front and back, you'll have to handle your problem in two treatments). Leave the ice packs in place for about 10 mins. while you lie down and relax. You can use the cool packs they sell in most drugstores, keeping themin the freezer until needed; or you can simply wrap up some ice cubes in toweling. Be careful not to freeze your face; just keep it comfortably cold. (If it gets too cold, just put soe more towels between the pack and your skin)

4. When you're through, wipe of any excess of BP with a soft, dry cloth, leaving the residue in place to work on bacteria all night

hope this helps! As you can see it is supposed to be cold & wet :(

LatinAries you've posted that you use the walgreens alpha hydroxy lotion. Well, I've looked up both the lotion and the face cream that MarkInMaine aforementioned, and the lotion is recommended for non-oily skin. I don't think this is a problem because the product is taken off after a few minutes, but does it leave any kind of residue on your face? I think the lotion is better because it list glycolic acid as the second ingredient on the ingredient list-unlike the face cream which has it listed third on it's ingredient list. And the face cream has less ounces for the same amount of money as the lotion.

Yup. I use the lotion (the one in the bottle) it leaves no residue and I just love it. ITA, that the Walgreens generic is the way to go. it's straightforward GA, with no fu-fu perfumes and all that other nonsense in there.

I hope things are going well for you and you find absolute and total success on this regimen. If you need any help I'm here to support ya! :(
