Going in for my smoothbeam consultation tomorrow. I wonder if they'll make me remove my makeup? Hmm. Normally I dont wear it too heavy but still a pain to put back on. I've been told I'm silly for considering smoothbeam but I'd love to get rid of a few scars that have been around for many years. Also I have a bit of sun-damaged (I think) skin that I think this may help. Somehow I can't seem to completely block this darn Texas sun. I'm curious to see what they'll charge for a few spot treatments. Possibly 3 total times on 2 areas and then a complete face. I will try to get a "package" deal. Seems like everyone who's posted (i think) is happy with the results from smoothbeam!

Yes, you will have to remove you makeup. The laser needs a clear path to your callogen.

I noticed that when I interact with people now, they dont break eye-contact and gaze over my scars.

For a test patch-- I will have to remove makeup?? I thought maybe I'd have to so they could get a better look at any damage. hmmm. The only reason I'm concerned is it's gonna be kinda early and I'm planning to do a few things afterwards. Guess I'll just take a bit of makeup with me just in case.

For a test patch, they might just do it on your neck. I don't really know. But come on, you can go a day w/o make up. Anyway, goodluck with your consultation

Niko,

Would you mind giving us some detail [including kind of scar] to what type of scarring you had/have. What kind of scars did the smoothbeam work best on? Are there some scars that it isn't working at all on, or not as good??

Thanks Again.

I honestly dont know what kind of scarring it is, I think its shallow to moderate rolling with craters. I know its not deep icepick or anything, more like lots of smaller indents that added up to make a bad appearance. I will my ask my doctor though

The scars are still there, but much less noticable, I think a 10 % more improvement and a tan (for slight discolouration) and you would never know I had/have scars.

So far I would say I have had 50% improvement, and would like to make 75%, but could live with this now.

I would say it worked really well on the smaller shallow stuff as opposed to the deeper craters.

Good to know. BTW, what is your definition of crater? I know the term is thrown around a lot, but I think people have different ideas of what they are. Try to use an example, like the size and depth of a pinhead, or pencil eraser.

Also, what if a scar is larger, yet not very deep, but only noticible in certain lights. Like a very shallow indent, but larger. What luck would a scar like that have?

Also [sorry i have a lot of questions], where on your face did you have the scars[all over, or certain spots?]? And are there certain areas on the face that respond better to smoothbeam [i.e. forehead, cheeks, etc.]?

Thanks Again.

I think a very shallow indent, even if it is wide, has a better chance of disapearing imo.

I consider a crater, a rounded sort of indent, not deep, might not even be able to feel it (I cant feel mine). Mine were around my lower cheek area, on the right and left side of my mouth extending down to my lower jar (worst place ever).

I am still amazed at the results, scars are still there, but you can barely see them, except for a few which were deeper. I plan on needling these, but another month I should be where I want.

Whats crazy is I just got the the 3rd treatment (which is when your supposed to start seeing the results according to the doctor) If it continues on the path it has, maybe it will be like 90% improvement, I will be happy with the current (50%) to 75% though. Good luck

expect to pay 3-5 grand for 5 full face smootbeams. The area Reston, Virginia is very wealthy and this price is acceptable over there. I did not pay these prices, but patients generally are charged the above.

I went for my smoothbeam consultation today. Get this : package deal consists of 3 - microdermabrasions 2- smoothbeams 1- gentlelase. She said she'd sub 2 microdermabrasions for 1 smoothbeam and these are full face. Total cost of $800 -- not bad !! Said I could pay as I go too. Will be maxing out a credit card or two to get it soon. She said I could do a few full faces then spot areas as needed. I'm very impressed.

Hi guys,
Tomorrow will be one week since my first treatment. I can honestly say that my skin is starting to change. The quality of the scars seems to be shifting or filling in. =D> [-o< =D> I am taking lots of pictures to document all of the changes. I am excited to see the results that the following treatments will bring. 8-[ I started back on my regimen of:
Raw apple cider vinegar (twice a day)
Super CP serum (at night) with emu oil
Burt's Bees Lettuce Toner (at night)
AHA 10% gel (at night)
spot treat any breakouts with BP. I cannot say if the smoothbeam is affecting breakouts, :-k because that really isn't a problem for me anymore.
During the day I use Paula's Choice BHA and Aveeno Clear Moisture formula. Sometimes I use the Neutrogena Multi-vitamin treatment.
I am seeing more changes in this short period of time than I have seen in a long, long time. I hope the copper peptides are accelerating the collagen growth. [-o< Dr. Pickart really seems to feel that they will help. Let's hope so! Hang in there guys and have a great week!!!!
Misty :D/
