Yeah...um...those two pimples? One is gone and they other is now gigantic. I squeezed the big one this morning and a bunch of stuff came out but now it is swollen. Funny how, once you are enjoying having fairly smooth skin, one giant pimple in the middle of your face looks like a lighthouse. I almost want to give it a name, like tinman does. It's....just.....that.....BIG. And it hurts. And yes, I am whining, but I don't care. This thing does not belong on my face. I'm done with this thing. It must leave immediately.
Thank you for reading my rant. Now go enjoy your Saturday.

Thanks, Fuman. Yes, I got in the shower right afterward and did my whole washing and BP routine. I made sure to use a whole fingerful of BP, too, and gently massaged it all in. I know it's just a matter of days before this guy goes away, but it is a bummer. I appreciate your support

Well, I can report that I have no new active pimples, so that is a good thing.
The Big Guy that showed up on my cheek the other day seems to be settling in for a good long stay. It's the kind that drains and then fills back up again. It may even be considered a .... CYST. Eeek. Those leave bad marks on my poor little cheekies.
Still working the system....
I don't know if I posted this, but I did switch to Jojoba Oil about a month ago. I see no difference between that and the Cetaphil that I was using. But I just feel better using a natural product to moisturize my skin. I also started using a 50/50 Apple Cider Vinegar/Water toner. I apply the toner with cotton balls right after I shower, then do my BP and moisturizer. But I've only felt like moisturizing in the morning lately. Maybe I'll go back to doing that twice a day. I guess I was waiting to see whether the jojoba oil left me oily, but it has not.
I did have to do some experimenting with the jojoba oil to figure out how much was the right amount for my skin. About a circle in the circumfrence of a dime soaks in nicely and leaves me looking dewy fresh
One thing I will never change in my regimen is the use of Dan's CSR gel. That stuff is KILLER on acne bacteria. I use it twice a day, as prescribed.
Oh, I want to mention that my clogged pores are clearing up nicely. Can't say for sure whether it's (a) stopped using Neutrogena Sheer Minerals makeup; (b) started using jojoba oil; or © started the ACV toner. Whatever. The combination is working well to clear my clogged pores
WASH GENTLY.
USE BP 2X A DAY.
MOISTURIZE.

i really think its the ACV celebration.. i just started to use it a couple weeks ago because I am clear now as well and want to get rid of my red marks/hyperpigmentation/brown marks (its all kind of mixed so my skin looks kind of like oatmeal). Not only is it making the red marks browner, which is closer to my natural skin tone than red, it did amazing things to my clogged pores. My clogged pores were 'eaten' away in a sense by the ACV, and instead i got blackheads there. I honestly prefer blackheads to clogged pores because they werent deep blackheads, and gently scrubbing the area removes them easily. ACV also just makes my skin feel fresher and look slightly better. The only thing that isnt appealing is the smell, which I actually dont mind anymore (smells like clear skin to me). Also the fact that it has stained my sink, but I can clean that.
I really think sticking with an ACV toner will do wonders for anyone.
EDIT: I just had to see your gallery again celebration, and noticed the 8.5 month photo and WOW WOW WOW. It still shocks me when you compare that photo and your original. Your clear!

OH, I just want to mention here, for my future reference. that yesterday was a VERY bad food day. I ate chocolate, pizza, and diet coke. Let's see if this affects my skin?
Everybody have a clear day.

Hey~thanks for the compliment on my photo gallery. It is quite shocking, the progress I've made. I just hope that other people see my progress and are inspired to take the plunge with the CSR. It really does work on severe acne. You just have to be patient and let it do the job.
My mother is here visiting me right now and she just can't get over how much my skin has improved since she saw me in July. That's only 2 months and it's still a great improvement.
I'm going to stick with my regimen of washing, ACV toner, jojoba oil, and Dan's BP. I'm loving this combo.

I saw a really good aesthetician today and she explained to me why BP is not working on my closed comedones. She said that the skin sloughs off and renews itself every 28 days. My comedonal skin is not processing this 28 day schedule properly, so I need a retinoid to help it renew itself. BP only kills bacteria. She said that if my skin was sloughing properly, I would not need BP because the old cells would not sit on my face long enough to collect bacteria.
After all these years, I feel I finally understand the process! BP will help with non-closed comedones because those have got bacteria in them, and that is what BP kills. For those closed ones, the best thing is some form of AHA, BHA, or a retinoid.
I brought home a goodie bag with a gel cleanser, a tea tree oil toner with AHA and BHA, and a few samples of Retin-A. I also got a "Jessner" peel today. I don't know what that means exactly except that it is some sort of acid peel. I have an appointment to go back for some extractions in 3 weeks (after all my gunk is loosened up by the AHA/BHA and Retin-A).
I'm going to start a new log in the retinoids logs! Wish me luck!

Okay, so my problem is no longer "active acne" meaning those red ones that have pus in them, or even cysts. My problem has a fancy new name: Comedonal Acne. That means that I have little bumps under my skin that just sit there and never come to the surface. BP hasn't done a thing for these, so...

You are kidding - that is so interesting! I recently started using Glycolic/Salicylic products, and it has done wonders for those comedones, which I used to have dozens of. But no one actually explained to me why those never went away before. You're always so good about updating and sharing your progress so I hope you continue to do so!

i was also thinking of starting with a light retinoid, diacneal, to see if that will get rid of closed comedones. i bought it from the pharmacy a few weeks ago, but haven't started using it yet.
i've been having ga peels for years, but my experience has taught me they do nothing about closed comedones, but they do wonders for skin tone.
well, good luck again, i'll be reading your new log
