I took it for about 3 months and only saw results for about 3 weeks after on my third month, then my acne returned.

Hey i was just wondering if anyone out there has tried doryx before, my sister starting taking it about a year ago and it completly cleared up her skin, i was thinking about trying ti but wondered if anyone else had similar results

I took Doryx for a few months, and my skin seemed a little better, but unfortunately I started having serious joint pain and swelling that I had never experienced before. I got bloodwork done and ended up with a positive ANA (an indicator for Lupus). To make a long story short, I was told by a rheumatologist to discontinue the Doryx as she thought I may be experiencing a somewhat rare condition known as drug-induced Lupus. Sure enough, my symptoms went away, and my bloodwork came back completely normal a few weeks later. If you begin to experience joint pain, swelling, or a rash, see your doctor right away.

Currently I'm taking Oracea (which is a much lower dose of antibiotic than Doryx) and tolerating that just fine. Also taking Seasonique (BCP) and using Metrocream, Differin gel and Clindamycin gel. Since starting the Oracea I definitely have "good days" when my skin is clear, but I still break out. Next step will be to add Spiro according to my derm...

Which is good. biggrin.gif But i guess it takes time to see the results.

Has it gotten anybetter? I just started taking it about a day ago. Any luck for YOU?

I've been taking 150mg of Doryx for about a week now. So far, it's been making all the large painful nodular acne that has been hiding under my skin for awhile surface and start to finally heal. They're large so it's VERY noticeable & a self esteem killer but i can already tell the pills are doing what they're supposed to be & like all acne medication, it just takes some time.

My derm has also told me that there's no generic for Doryx.

I've also noticed my skin starting to get really dry since i started taking Doryx. Especially my T-zone & scalp as well as my lips. But it's very mild & not something a good chapstick & face moisturizer can't fix.

Im a 23 year old male Im back on DOryx, I wish I had never stopped in the first place. I started a few months ago and kept with it for a month or so and things were really starting to improve. I guess I am always looking for a better method so I moved to solodyn which was horrible. Im back on Doryx now (about a week) and noticed that my skin is getting worse.

Im thinking this is just part of process? Things will get worse before better? Im really going to stick with this for as long as I need to this time.

Hi, I have currently been on Doryx for about 10 months now with a 150mg dose once daily. I have experienced a great improvement in my acne. Before I was treated for my acne, I had pimples and zits all over my face & chest. While Doryx has cleared up all of the acne on my face, I still get it on my chest sometimes. Before I was on Doryx, my derm put me on Solodyn, which did not do much for me.

I have had no confirmed side effects with Doryx, however, I have been having severe stomach aches, and my physician believes it might be because of Doryx (I had stomach aches before being treated but they happen more frequently). I have also been experiencing heartburn and occasionally diahrea (my family has a pretty crappy stomach so it might not be from Doryx). I had blood work done, and it came back with a vitamin D deficiency. No idea if that is related for Doryx or not, because when i got that blood work done, I was in marching band and outside for 2 hours a day. So for 6 weeks I was put on 50,000 IU Vitamin D, and now I take vitamin D supplements everyday.

Overall, I am happy with the results Doryx has given me acne wise, but I am concerned about the side effects (what I have been experiecing may not be Doryx related at all)

I took doxycycline for two years. It worked pretty well for me, and my insurance paid so much of it that i onl6 paid $.60 for my prescription. It made me so nauseous that I had to stop taking it though. Of course my acne came back worse than it was to begin with. I'm currently on my 6th month of accutane. That right... 6th. The normal dose is 5 months, and I STILL havent seen an improvement.

My doctor prescribed my doryx 100 mg about a year or two ago.. and I did not like it at all. It made me incredibly nauseated even if I ate and drank a lot of water. I was using spf 15 and i STILL got really bad and strange burns. If i stood outside for about 10 minutes my face appeared flushed. I didn't notice it til i had been on the medication for a few months. It did not help my skin at all and I got nothing but negative results from this. My doctor took me off of it and now I am on Doxycycline Hyclate and it is working fine for me.

I used Doryx for my acne about 3 months ago. I have extremely severe acne and i hated going out in public i felt ugly and it was depressing anyway this is THE PRODUCT to use it completely cleared my face i LOVE this product it allowed me to feel pretty and i wish i could use it again!

The down side- it cost A LOT of money (but we got a rebate that made it 30 dollars a bottle for 3 bottles), i think it has to be prescribed, you can only take it for 3 months then you have to wait a while to take it again, my mom wont let me take it anymore because she heard that it makes your teeth turn grey, and finally after the 3 months of taking it i couldnt take anymore therefore my face has gotten worse because i can not find something to replace this product

overall i would recommend this product it worked wonders for me while i was taking it it does cost a little bit more

I was on Doryx for about 4/5 years everything was great and prefect until just in Dec/Jan I ended up having bad heartburn that I couldn't tolerate it anymore that they put me on spironolactone which has worked ok but I ended up with one white stain on my tooth I would like to know if this is common?

pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardial sac that surrounds the heart. yes it can be srs.

In fact i think i had this because i started developing a weird pain sensation around my heart area. I went into the doc because i had developed candida from taking doryx and was told to stop taking it. I also had a good sized cyst (so the doc called it) under my chin attached to my salivary gland... it hurt and a he thinks i got it after taking dorxy (i got the cyst the same time i started taking doryx)

so.. shit im off that med but epiduo is helping me still so hopefully i can still be acne free. No new acne since a couple days ago and im so happy.
