Ok so I saw my derm the 11th of this month. I had my accutane training with the nurse the 18th. Going to get my blood work sometime next week and that friday (28th) I will see if my blood work is ok. Then my Derm will prescribe me accutane (I will be asking for generic).

To recap, my face is pretty clear. I will get a nice big cyst once every few months. Nothing major, just oily skin and the normal few pimples every couple of weeks. I'm on accutane because the acne on my back is tearing it up pretty good, (cystic acne) blah.

It's looks like I will be on accutane for 5/6 months unless there is a miracle and I clear well on this. Then maybe I will only be on it for 3-4 months. Ha I don't know.

So I'll update you guys next week. wink.gif

hey...good luck on your course. One suggestion though, even if you do clear up quickly, DONT only do your course for 3-4 months. I have 3 cousins that have taken accutane and my mom and have all never had acne come back (not saying they've never had another pimple, but just normal stuff like everyone gets). Except for one of them, (my only female cousin) and she has taken it 3 times. The third time she was on it she went to a different derm and he said the reason she has had to take it this many times because she never took accutane long enough and not enough of it. I havent' seen her since she took her 3rd course (couple years) but my brother did and he said her face was looking really good. So just a suggestion smile.gif Again, best of luck to ya!

Yeh I just want one course. He will probably say to go the full course even if I clear up sooner.

Good luck. I don't know you, but I'm sure the blood test will be fine. I haven't heard of anyone having a bad blood test in the beginning.

I don't mind having the blood drawn. What I don't like is the damn sticky tape they use to tape a cotton ball to the inside of my arm!!!! It hurts so bad to take if off....

One more day to possibly having TANE! I'm sure you'll get it!

Yeh the tape with the cotton ball made the pain continue as I was driving home. I took off the tape and cotton and the pain stopped. smile.gif

Day 1:

Alright! My lipids and cholesterol is fantastic. My derm said he wish he had my perfect health. Well the doc put me on 60mg a day. Accuatne will be $35 a month and $10 for generic Claravis. I will be going with Claravis and might go with Accutane when I have $35 to let go later in the treatment.

So it says to take 3 20mg pills a day. So I took the first pill this morning. I will take the 2nd this afternoon, and the third in the evening. Sounds good? Thinking POSITIVE!!! eusa_dance.gif

Here's some info on me:

Age:20
Weight:140lb
Reason for Accutane: For the back mostly.

I will be at work looking for Auaphor and Cetaphil. Let's DO THIS! lol.gif

Also, My derm said I will have to register with some program (goverment I think) if you're under accutane. So yeh those restrcitions you guys have been talking about. They are coming soon.

Day 6:

Woke up to some flaky skin. I had a cyst that formed really quick yesterday and now it's going down. Last night I had a headache. I think it was my contacts bothering me.

At work I had a sensation of a sun burn on my cheeks. Probably from driving, it was a pretty sunny today.

Day 7:
Some very small pimples around my mouth. My face has a little redness to it. I'm basically clear. My back is doing well too. Still have dry lips and dry eyes. Nothing else really. smile.gif

Day 15:

I don't know how this is day 15. It should be day 14. I started the 28th of Oct. and oh well I can't think right now.

Skin is little flaky near my nose and mouth. Some lines on my forhead are fading and the pores in those lines are gone too. I am getting little whiteheads near my mouth and thats about it. I have really dry lips and they are cracking and bleeding sometimes. If this is the worse the side effects will get then, its not that bad actually. I can't wait to see how I look in a couple months. eusa_dance.gif

Hi Metal!
Looks like you're progressing along nicely.
Next week I'm starting on a 60 mg a day course, too.

You said that the acne on your face was not that bad to begin with... and it seems you haven't had a bad breakout on your face at all. I wonder if the severity of your case before going on 'tane determines the initial breakout???

Good luck keep on keeping us posted!

Yeh I'm wondering that too. I was kept pretty clear with Avon's Salicyclic Acid 1.5% before I went on Tane. My back is the main problem. It's hard to see/clean back there to get those blackheads and etc before they become a big nodule or cyst. I can tell you now. My back is clearing up and the scars are filling up/fading alittle. Tane is really stopping my oil production. That was another problem, was oily skin. I think If I was on tane a few years ago my intial breakout would of been worse.

Is there any reason why you would go for the Accutane over the Claravis? Isn't it exactly the same product?

I'm taking Claravis. It's the generic version. Someone on here said that the chemicals in claravis are not exactly the same level as accutane or something. Its very close to the Accutane's though.
