But I do not reccomend putting some on for bed time. It gave my skin this rough, dry like texture. It has come in handy kind of. because I am going to tell my derm that RAM did it, so maybe he'll give me spiro.
But it definately helps to minimise pores, and reduce oilliness.
Anyone else have any comments on how MOM has been working for them?

I am new to this site, but I've been reading in the background for a while; when I ran into this posting about MOM I decided to try it, I started around Xmas and I just love it!, b4 I started using it - I was getting break outs here and there but it just seemed like there was always 1 very stubborn and ugly all the time, since then I 've had non and the only ones I can reacall are probably 3 but really, really mild, and when I apply MOM in the particular problem one, by next morning it had gone down considerably, I attribute that to the saline effect that may neutralize the PH in my face, pores seemed shrunken and overall my face looks and feels smoother, I thank you all so much for this great remedy which has done wonders for me.
PS. You may all know this but, applying it close to the sensitive area around the eyes in not good!, since it has been acting as a mild yet powerful astringent (as least for me), it takes part of that natural and good oil that allows elasticity, hence it tends to look wrinkly... ** Thnx all,,, the newcomer.. I'm a guy, so I wouldn't be needing MoM as a makeup primer or whatever, but I read in the local paper it sometimes helps acne. So I bought some a while ago but just now getting around to using it. I kept it in the shower and after washing my hair I rubbed some on my face and let it sit for a few minutes before washing it off. I'm not sure it's very effective that way, (it doesn't feel like it anyway, and there's no noticable changes for about a week) and am looking for some insight.
I use Proactiv solution and sometimes some Neutrogena Blackhead Astringent, so I was hoping I could use MoM a different time of day (it just doesn't seem effective using so many products at once).
So basically, as a guy who doesn't need it as a makeup primer, and using a couple other products is there a more effective way to incorporate MoM into my routine?
Thanks for any advice!

Most likely. She may have used it to cleanse her system, if she was drinking it.

Magnesium is needed for many processes in the body that can affect acne. Take magnesium supplements internally, although they can still be laxative. Use MoM topically.
And I've been wondering why no one on this board seemed to know about this. I keep bringing it up in response to people complaining about oily skin, but no one ever seems interested.

kept my makeup on but my face was still shiny as the day went on. I liked Monistat chafing gel better. BUT I found that if I put this on first, then Monistat, they keep my makeup PERFECT all day long.
I tried this out last weekend during a dance performance. This entails 2 1/2 hours of dancing at noon, and also 2 1/2 hours at 7 pm. With the combination of these two primers, I did not have to reapply or touch up my makeup AT ALL through BOTH performances.
Everywhere but my face I was a sweaty mess but my face stayed perfect! I even put them on my eyes and my eyeshadow didn't crease at all! These two products together are AMAZING.

This discussion is about applying it topically to absorb oil.

I've dumped a ton of money into a lot of products and going to dermatologists. My mom (who paid for a lot of this stuff, when I was younger) was the one who finally bought the Milk of Magnesia for me after she read something in her hometown newspaper about it, and well, it works pretty well. I've been using it for a few weeks, and have noticed a pretty dramatic improvement. I have read on here how many people can't find the unflavored kind--which is understandable--it tastes really gross! But since you're putting it on your face, my mom (again) thought of a solution--GO TO THE DOLLAR STORE! They have their own brand of MoM and it is $1. It's probably horrible on your stomach, but on your face? Does just as well.
I think it does dry a lot, so I would recommend starting off slowly. Each night, I usually shake it up, but a little amount in the cup in comes with (the dosing cup) and use a cotton pad or ball to apply it topically to my face (use q-tip for spot treatment in the mornings...). Depending on how my skin is doing, I will sometimes wash it off and then re-apply the solution to a few areas/spots for overnight treatment.
It doesn't seem to be helping much with blackheads, but with whiteheads and pimples, this is almost too good to be believed (i think that's why, after two years of my mom trying to tell me about it, I still didn't want to use it! plus, buying tons of it at the dollar store was a little embarrassing!
