Hey everyone. I need some feedback. I'm really confused right now if I should continue with this product or not. I don't know if i should give it more time, but i'm not seeing results like the other reviews i'm reading and i feel so hopeless and devistated! I have extremely oily skin. Every hour i have to blott my face with these oil pads and it comes up clear everytime! Thats how serious it is. I use MoM as a primer under my foundation and i'm not getting the results of less oil. Infact i feel like my skin is getting MORE oily...is that suppose to be happening and is that possible that MoM is doing this to my skin or a coincidence? My skin is still oily with MoM. Only thing i feel it does is maybe dry up the acne a little. I don't know what to do..any suggestions?

I read on another site when I was searching for something natural to help with the wrinkles. I have eczema and wrinkles around my eyes. Any way the instructions were to heat the MOM for 7 to 10 seconds in the micowave and apply with a cotton ball. Let dry for no longer than 3 minutes, wash off. I don't remember how long it took to see results but the OP said her son could see a difference in a couple of days as he had really bad acne and it was the only thing that helped. If I find the site I will post it. Elf

Does anyone know if putting MoM on for 10 mins or so then rinising off before bed if you are still meant to use moisturiser or is that then defeating the object? Also, can you still use a small amount of bp or do you think this would bee too drying? Crikey, all this spot stuff is confusing! confused.gif LOL
Many thanks.

Lumpy, my esthetician recommended I use MOM as a facemask for 1 hour and then applying BP, before going to bed. I hope this answers your question. She also said to have moisturizer because it may cause dryness. I have a severe case of acne, so it may not be in youur best interest to follow her recommendation to me.

This may have been answered already, but I need clarification on how to use the MoM.

As a face mask?
My understanding is put it on for 30min and wash off. Now, do I wash my skin beforehand or not. I would think you'd need to apply to a clean surface. Want to make sure I get this right. Also, when you wash it off, do you use a gentle cleanser or just water? To you use moisturizer afterwards? Do you do the spot treatment after after the mask?

As a primer?
What is the order of things? Wash, moisturize, Mom, make-up.... please let me know. I read on a website that once you apply moisturizer, you should wait 5 min (till it is completelly absorbed) before you put anything on. Is it the same thing after applying the MoM?

Also, what type of moisturizers are you using?

If someone could PLEASE REPLY to both questions I would be super grateful. smile.gif

Update: just finished my first bottle of milk of magnesia. skin looks better than before--not using anything else other than salicylic acid and daily cleanser (gentle). I went back to the dollar store, and bought magnesium citrate--that seems to be working well, too--I think the citric acid is also helping slough off some of the scars/tone the skin. It smells lemony (that the flavoring, I think) but it is clear and effervescent. I've been using for a day or two--and so far, so good! smile.gif I think they both work on the same principle--saline laxative.

How is your acne now? It's been a while.

Magnesium Citrate is great. I have been using it the last couple of weeks. My scars are going away fast. It was too drying, so I just do a rinse every morning then moisturize. I can show a before and after photo: kind of dramatic difference!

Before: ...

After 1 month: ...

...as you can see, I have a long way to go, but this is as good as it's looked in years.

i have my acne just the same iam trying it tell u soon!!!!!!!!! eusa_doh.gif

I'm 27 and have had acne for over 10 years. As I'm getting older, my acne is just getting worse. I've tried dozens (and dozens!!!) of products over the years and some have helped, but only for short periods of time. I'm going to the drug store today to buy MOM. I appreciate everyone's feedback and I hope I'll have the same results, because I need a long term solution to this irritating problem!

I had to come back here and report that my first use of MOM as a face masque was wonderful! My skin feels so soft and smooth! It seems like my scars are a little lighter, too! I had the masque on for 1 hour. From now on, I'm going to put it on before my shower. I think washing it off with shower steam and little direct water pressure will help easily remove the masque. It's amazing that something so inexpensive (I paid $4) has helped after just one use!

It's drying, so I do moisturize after use.

I forgot how I read years ago the MoM was a great mask and spot treatment for acne. I'm 46 and suffer with the occasional huge painful cystic zit that takes days and days to go away, and is very embarassing.

Last week I developed a painful cystic zit on the side of of my nose that swelled up half my face and had to go to the dermatolgist who said it would be too dangerous to give the cortizone shot which he said was to close to the brain.

So he gave me very strong antibiotics that usually are for boils although that is not what is what is was, but he wanted to treat it as one.

And my face gets so oil during the day that my make up slides off, even though I watch what I eat and exercise. So I'm definitely going to do this again. Forgot about using it so long ago.

Funny thing is, my skin was clear as a teenager, and then when I turned 24 they cystic acne flared often on my chin and was extremely painful I would actually cry in frustration.

This MoM routine may be just what I need. I may be posting late to this thread but better late than never. And I'm excited about trying this again.

I have been following Paula Begouin's advice for using Milk of Magnesia as a mask and makeup primer. I now use it at night, covering my whole face once, letting it dry and applying another coat. Both are always thin coats. A little goes a long way with this. Then in the morning I apply two coats also before my makeup. My makeup doesnt get oily until around 5! and I wakeup at 7! Plus I have very oily skin! My skin is clearing up also! Just wanted to share and hope someone will try this!

HI!
i was very excited when i heard for a first time about the uses of milk of magnesia and i decided try that.
but doesn't work for me ;(. I apply two coats before do my makeup and i let dry and my makeup looks horrible, so caky and doesn't matt my skin!
