I'm just now in the midst of my 3rd attempt to come off of Ortho TriCyclen bcp. My hormones are going crazy so my face gushes with oil and I get hoards of zits around my jaw, smile lines, and chin.

My doctor put me on spiro to block the excess androgens. It has really cut down on the aggressiveness of the acne, but I'm still getting pimples. When they appear, it isn't just one or two, they like to come in little groups.

My friend also went off the pill and her postcontraceptive acne is just now starting to quiet down after 1 year of being off it. She recently did a Master Cleanse.

Would this help my hormonal acne? Should I not take the spiro while I'm on it?

I am also taking vitex, or chaste tree berry in the mornings in the form of a tincture desolved in a little water.

Any similar experiences or advice?

I just started with the vitex. I hear you have to be on it for awhile to get it to balance you out, and Ive only been taking it a couple days so I dunno...hopefully it will do something for me. But I might be different...the BC pills caused my acne in the first place and it never went away.

Gosh, those things are horrid. I have been enjoying the weight loss that has accompanied coming of the pill though!

I started Vitex about a month ago. Do you take it in capsules or drops? In the morning? That is when I was told to take it.

I also was told in another reply to drink raspberry leaf tea for the same effects as the vitex, so I got some today.

How long have you been off the pill?
