I shampoo like 6 times a week.

Yet I still get these annoying dandruff. It's not that visible from outside, but when sometimes I touch the skin under the hair, I can "pluck" out a dandruff here and there. And if I stand infront of a mirror, I can really see the dandruff.

Why?.... how can I get rid of them? I shampoo yet I'm still having this problem.

I use hair spray if that makes any difference.

Do you suffer from dandruff only on your scalp or do you have flaky skin on other parts of your body, notably feet (athlete's foot), neck, behind the ear's, eyebrows, nasal flaps and other parts of the face? Moreover do you have any redness around the sides of your nostrils, eyebrows or ears?

Based on only what you say it is hard to tell exactly what is causing your dandruff. But it is likely as a result of a hormonal imbalance, candida or seborrheic dermatitis.

If it's a hormonal imbalance then you need to firstly look at your diet. What foods are you eating? You need to increase the amounts of fresh organic fruit and veg as well as most importantly your omega-3's. You should take at least 3grams of pure, dioxin/toxin-free omega-3 fish oils or take flaxseed oil but that can be less effective.

If it's candida/seb derm then you need to address the imbalance in your intestinal flora and increase the amount of pre and pro-biotics you are taking. For this don't bother wasting your money on store-sold bottled probiotics supplement capsules as for the most part these aren't effective and just $$$. For an extremely cheap alternative that is twice as effective you should start taking Kefir and Kombucha tea.

In conjunction with the probiotics, you should drink 2-3 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar as not only do 'yeasties' hate this stuff but it also creates the right environment for the good-guys to develop in your stomach.

You will need to attack any fungal infections or imbalances (as a result of possible long term antibiotic usages) by eating garlic, caprylic oil, COCONUT OIL (organic) and pumpkin seeds. These shouldn't be taken all at once, rather one should be taken everyday for a week then move on to another. This way the fungus/candida won't get immune to the fighters. Pau d'arco (herb) can also be very effective but should not be used longer than 20-25 days at a time. Selenium is also very good or the hair and skin so you can take 200ug/day which will help. There is also a shampoo called Selsun that contains Selenium Sulphide.

...........lol Okay, if that is all a little hard to swallow and follow right now then you can address the problem from the outside first and take a short-cut. The only thing that is guaranteed to take away your dandruff immediately without side-effects is Organic Apple Cider Vinegar!!! You need to dilute it down by 2 parts water to 1 part ACV and apply it to your scalp. Leave it on there for at least 15-20mins and then wash off. Not only will your scalp be perfectly clear but your hair will be extremely shiny smile.gif You need to start off applying everyday for 3-4 days then do it twice a week.

Unfortunately I know ACV smells and bad but it does clear your scalp up 100%! If you really don't want to do it then you can apply Organic Coconut Oil directly to your scalp and follow the same routine as above. As OCO is an anti-fungal it will clear out your scalp but it doesn't have as high success rate as ACV.

I have provided you with the info to help resolve your problem without side-effects. There will be people who will propose to you to use 'medicated' anti-dandruff shampoos e.g. Tar/Ketacozenole/Nizoral etc. that often do work but do have side-effects especially if you have to use them indefinitely as this is how dandruff is treated. Nizoral can be extremely taxing on the liver and can damage the delicate epidermal layers of the skin if used continuously.

Anyway I really hope you find this useful and it works for you. Let me know it goes...good luck smile.gif

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the type to write those down. It's long, but very informative and I read every words of it.

Actually the dandruff is only near the scalp area. Furthur down the hair doesnt have any. I dont think my other body parts are flaky.

The applying ACV method sounds tempting. I have half a bottle left over from Delna's regimen. When a long weekend hit, I'll do it.. I dont care how smelly it is biggrin.gif

And about drinking ACV. Do I drink it pure ACV or I take some water with it? I never drink it but it smells!

Hey not a problem natuerwild, I'm most grateful you found it useful and took the time to say so. A lot of people just see all the writing and think 'grrr too long, is there anything easier to read' lol!

That's great you already have ACV and it seems like you have a great attitude as well. A lot of people have been put off by the smell of ACV but I gotta say if I really want to clear my dandruff then I am usually willing to do anything.

After you have soaked your head in ACV and washed it out, to cover up the smell I just wash my hair using my usual shampoo and that gets rid of any smelly ACV smile.gif

Oops, sorry I should have said about how to drink the ACV. I usually put about 2-3 tablespoons in about a glass or two glasses of water then drink it down. If it is too strong then just increase the concentration of water, if it is too water then just add less water..it's up to you. One tip though: it is usually better to drink it through a straw that way you avoid your teeth's enamel being damaged from the ACV. And to be extra safe, after I have finished drinking it I just swirl some fresh water around my mouth to make sure no traces of acid is left.

I'll do the shampoo later on and drink tomorrow ^^

Oh yea asked about my diet........

errr........

It's been 3-4 months since the last time I ate a fruit. Everyday either I order pizza, cook instant noodle, cook instant fried rice, or I eat out at Burger King.

Yes I know it's very unhealthy.. but I'm living alone with no cooking skill and a super lazy attitude to shop ><

Hopefully the ACV will do the trick!

Hey at least you are honest and aware that what you are eating isn't too healthy. A lot of people think they can eat whatever they want and it will not affect their body because their best buddy eats 5 pizzas, 10 big macs and drinks 2 bottles of JD and his skin looks great.

I know it is hard to switch from convenience food to preparing your own food especially when living alone but you don't need to do it all at once. In fact you shouldn't do it like that. Just start slowly and eat one or two healthy things for 7 days then every week keep adding a healthy thing to your diet and take away an unhealthy item.

Fruit is a great way to start because you don't really need to prepare it. Just grab a few apples, pears, berries etc. and have it for breakfast. Your body will love ya if you start giving it some fruit as it's been so long 3-4months sad.gif You need all those active enzymes and vitamins that they provide you with.

I can bet that if you stopped eating that fast food burger king stuff, you would see an improvement in your hair because this stuff is what keeps the bad yeasties in your stomach alive. It is the refined sugar which they love and the more you eat the more the dandruff will get worse.

But again, I understand it is hard to switch diets so ACV will help you a lot and get rid of the dandruff that is already there. But it means that the dandruff will keep coming back so you will have to keep using the ACV to get rid of it..just like any shampoo routine. It cures the problem but doesn't prevent future reoccurences.

LOL, if you are experiencing evolution aliens in your hair may I recommend you immediately go to Area 51 in the Nevada desert for a closer examination biggrin.gif

On a more serious note, yeh H&S gets rid of dandruff because it contains zinc pyridinethione however I noticed that after a for weeks-a month of usage my scalp just got used to it and it stopped working which is the case with so many medications. This is why I started looking into natural means which are by far more effective for me. But if it's working for ya jorrell I'm happy for you.

Oh and I forgot to mention you can also find shampoos that contain 'real' tea tree oil extracts which is great at killing dandruff but definitely not as potent as our friend ACV smile.gif

Hey,

Yea heh.. my food habit isnt healthy. It's just I'm still in high school, and the place that sell fruit is kinda far and I have no license.

Anyway about the dandruff........

lol.gif lol.gif lol.gif

Actually I was on my way to buy new ACV (my old one is like 2 months old so I'm unsure if it's still useable) and I saw a barber shop. I cut my hair real short on IMPULSE lol.gif Well at least now I wont have to worry about dandruff and it feels so much better though I look wierd!!!

But I did drink the ACV just for health purpose. Hopefully it will help somehow..

Just a general question, how often should I drink ACV?

I have dandruff, but I kind of choose to have it... you see the shampoo I'm using is making my hair grow faster, it also makes dandruff too. If you have dandruff try Selsem Blue.

Hey that's cheating! You can't cut all your hair off LMAO eusa_dance.gif . But will be interesting to see what happens with regards to the dandruff. Dandruff comes from the scalp not the hair so it will still be there but I assume it will just flake off easier.

Good on you for drinking the ACV natuerwild eusa_clap.gif You should try and drink around one tablespoon three times a day (in a glass of water otherwise it's too strong)

When you purchase a new bottle, try and get Organic Apple Cider Vinegar WITH MOTHER (basically this is the good stuff) that is UNPASTEURISED and UNFILTERED. I know that's a lot of attributes but it does make a difference. If you can't find that then just get it online as it's easier.

But really the dandruff will be there?... That would be sooo worse. I mean with my new short hair, everything will be seen!! THis is my first time having very short hair btw.

It seems I bought the wrong ACV then. Mine just says ACV with 5% acetic acid. I'll keep looking for your recommendation.

Thanks a lot for the info by the way... they are really informative!

Use a gentle shampoo, Tresemme works for me, then gently rub in a conditioner. But the secret is use COLD water! Keep it coming out of the shower onto your head for about a miniute and then let it dry naturally. Never use a hair dryer, as this drys the scalp.

The ACV you got is great for external applications like for shampooing your hair but when it comes to drinking it, it won't contain the good microbes that ACV 'with mother' has. Don't worry though, in the meantime your ACV will make your scalp a fungus free environment in no time.

With regards to your shaved head, you probably won't have much/any dandruff unless you suffer from a condition like seborrheic dermatitis. I think you'll be fine, just look at your scalp over the next few days and assess how it is.

i used to have extremely bad dandruff, did a little searching on the internet, and saw a glowing review for Nizoral shampoo. i went out and got some, and in a matter of days, my dandruff completely cleared up and hasn't returned. miraculous. after suffering from acne, you never think there's a product out there that actually does what it says.

Yep I already mentioned Nizoral in my original post. The standard treatment of dandruff is virtually the same as with acne. Nizoral is a potent ant-fungal just like antibiotics are a potent anti-inflammatory; once you stop taking either products your condition will relapse.

IKN FR LV, by using Nizoral you haven't cured the underlying problem so your dandruff will return. Nizoral isn't a cure; it is a controller to be used on a continuous basis.

However, I advise against doing this because in the long term in will put stress on your liver as well as skin/scalp.
