Has anybody experienced an improvement in their hormonal acne with a change in diet?
I can understand diet changing some types of acne, but I wouldn't expect it to have an effect on hormonal acne.

Anyone with opinions, experience, information?

Well, I think my acne is hormonal, but I was wrong when I got my tests back. I saw a endocrinologist and he tested my hormones, and other stuff. Mt testosterone was a little high, but that's okay. Everything else was super great. There's talk about how certain grains and other foods increase hormones. I don't believe this though. I eat whatever I want and I don't think it affects much. I've tried crazy diets as well to test this out. It's one thing if your allergic to a food, but it's highly unlikely that foods cause acne. You really have to make your own diet and try certain things. It took months to figure out for me. I know that too much sugar can increase acne with me. But too much of anything is bad, right? Remember, the body needs all sorts of nutrients. Meats, veggies, fruits, fish, and grains. If you just stick to one type of food, you will not get the proper nutirents, and your body may not react well to it. Ever seen vegan's? A lot of them have acne because they are not supplying the body with the proper food. So yes, the body can respond to certain diets. But we all are different.

I have hormonal acne. In learning to keep it to a minimum, I have discovered that these things are guaranteed to make it worse: Caffeine, nuts, nut oils, palm kernal oil, hydrogenated oils, which are in potato chips and most processed foods.
Caffeine really does a number on me though! It's amazing. I can almost feel my skin getting progressively oilier and then I get major breakouts. The effects seem to go on for about a month after having just one or two cups of coffee or tea. Old blemishes seem to pop back up and wound healing is severly impaired.

I think diet can effect hormonal acne. Eating a pure diet helps the body to go back to functioning correctly. Liver cleansing is an interesting idea that I am looking into ...
