Is it better to wait until my acne is completely clear (if ever) to treat my red marks?
At the moment my acne isn't too bad (about 4 or 5 active zits per week) but I have THOUSANDS of red marks all over my face which make my acne look and feel worse than it actually is, if I could get rid of them the active acne wouldn't seem half as bad.
So, is it advisable to treat red marks while still suffering with acne?

Treating redmarks with acne is a big NO NO. It will burn current pimples, but let's say you have massive acne on your chin but do not have any on cheeks then do it, please post a post saying where it is,.

My cheeks are covered in red marks with one or 2 small active zits, I have no acne or red marks anywhere else, just on my cheeks.
I guess I should wait until my acne stops completely then?

Well better safe than sorry, I hate 3 very very very small pimples on my upper top right cheek bone and accidently just washed the peel on there for like 30 seconds and it just burned them, I mean it's a 50/50 chance! You seem to have mild acne. I would just wait to the day that you have no zits where you're going to place the peel. Ermm do you have peel already if so what is it and what %?

I have used a glycolic acid 30% peel to help my red marks and hyperpigmentation. It didn't make any difference to the active acne - just stung a bit more than the rest of my face when I first put it on.
Could you do a small 'test patch' and then wait a few days to see? (Make sure you don't leave it on very long at first)
Or you could try 'Delna's routine' (on another thread somewhere). that worked for me, and was more gentle than the glycolic, but the glycolic gave me quicker results so I went with that.
Hope that helps.

ACV and Glycolic burn active acne and there's a 60 % or more chance that that pimple will leave a redmark. Especially when you netruelize with the baking soda afterwards.

Thanks for replying guys.
Yes, I have mild acne at the moment but it has been much worse in the past.
I havn't got a peel yet, I'm still looking at my options. I don't want to end up back at square 1, my skin is very very sensitive so I need to find something that won't be too harsh.
But I'll have to wait until I have a clear day and I'll do a test patch just to be safe, seems like a good idea.
Thanks for the advice guys!

Sorry - I wasn't trying to imply that this wasn't a possibility, or that I didn't believe it had happened to you. It's certainly a risk, which is why I suggested doing a small patch test first.
I did a lot of searching on the boards about glycolic acid before I used it because I was worried. I found that there were quite a lot of other people who had used it on active acne without any problems. However, I did a patch test first and waited a while before doing a full peel (30%).
I am not suggesting that it would be sensible to just rush into a full peel - you definitely need to be very cautious. It's just that I, and others, have had good results with it. I thought that, if NoLeafClover was one of the people who, like me, can use glycolic acid without a problem, it would be a shame to miss out on the chance of getting rid of the red marks a lot sooner.

for glycolic peels. since you only have a couple of active acne you could just put on the peel on your skin and avoid the active acne. either that or halfway into the process when applyin the peel you can add onto actie acne. it doesnt seem to burn . but better to avoid them. but i guess better safe than sorry

Yes glycolic acid peels does burn active pimples, from personal experience
i used a 40% peel that time
either try to do peels only on ur red marks and leave ur pimples free
or try a weaker peel like 20% or something like that
BTW, i found AHA lotions wonderful
they sllloooowwwwllyyy (lol) fade away my marks, but they leave my skin incredibly soft and smooth (given that you only have red marks and no scars)
i use it to enhance the effect of my peels, which i am going to start again next week!! *excited*
