SELF Injecting Fillers for Rolling and Depressed Scars

Marking your scar
It's good to mark your scars with a surgical pen before you inject. A surgical pen is an ultra thin marker that doesn't wash off with alcohol/betadine. You can buy them online - just google "surgical pen." I use a cotton ball of acetone (nail polish remover) to take it off. Also, for what it's worth, there are some people who've used an ultra fine tip sharpie marker instead of a surgical pen. But, I can't speak (personally) to how well the latter works.
The way I've done it is, I mark a very tiny dotted line around the *inside* circumference of the scar - not on the *outside* - because it helps keep me within the bounds of the scar.
Even if you know your scars well, it's good to mark them because it helps with precision.
Layering Filler - Layer Layer Layer
When you're injecting, remember to LAYER the filler.
Start at the deepest point - FILL. Then, move nearer the surface - FILL. And then finish up just below the surface.
If you start shallow, your results will be good for a few days, and then tend to dissipate BECAUSE the filler does not have a *foundation* to rest on.
When you begin injecting deep, and you're pressing on the syringe, you may not notice ANY lifting of the scar, but that is a GOOD thing.. because it means the filler is "filling a void" .. so don't become discouraged when you inject deep and do not see immediate lifting of the scar. Instead, pull the needle out (or thread) after you've injected deep, and then start layering the filler until you reach the surface.
Some people pull the needle completely out between layers. That's okay.. but the way I do it is, I *thread* the needle in and then *almost* out, back and forth, so I only have 1 injection mark per scar.
Overfilling
You don't want to overfill with Radiesse. If you accidently do, it's okay, but try not to make overfilling your goal. Radiesse is a different composite than HA.
It *is* okay to overfill with Restylane/Perlane (HA's) a tiny bit.

Massage the area to help it subside.

I don't have scars on my forehead, so I can't answer "tell me how much improvement you have had with injecting forehead rolling scars."
I can only speak to scars on the cheek. With those, I've had 95% improvement using Perlane. I haven't had the Radiesse injected long enough to know how much improvement it will sustain.

LOVE, how long does the improvement lasts for you with Perlane? Like 95% first month, 90% second, etc. Also, how longer Perlane lasts for you compared to regular Restylane? I too enjoyed very good improvement from my injection of LIPP, the only problem is that it didn't last long enough, I would say 1 month. I must add that after one month I went to the beach for a week, where obviously I stayed for some time in direct sunlight, and that is probably the main cause why the effect subsided. Thanks for all your input!

I can't give you a percentage per month, because all scars are not created equal... some scars need filler more often.. some do not. I might fill 1 scar every 6 weeks and another scar every 6 months.
LIPP is the smallest molecule of Restylane (the thinnest).. so it lasts the shortest amount of time. Restylane is a larger molecule (thicker) and Perlane is the largest molecule (thickest).
The larger the molecule, the longer it lasts.
Of HA fillers, my preferred choice is Perlane. For non-HA, I prefer Radiesse.

I've been following this thread for some time, and I am finally ready to take the plunge, and order some radiesse, I live in the UK.
I'm wondering if anyone would kindly PM some reliable sources.
Many thanks

Hi all, I've been reading this board for years and am finally ready to take the plunge also. Can someone PM me some reliable sources as well? I'm in California. I have some indentations left from lupus lesions that I would like to smooth out. I have an appointment to have this done in the doctor's office this Thursday, but would like to do this on my own in the future. TIA.
Lynn
Wow, no responses at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just had Juvederm the other day and go back in two weeks for Restylane on some of the scars that the doctor feels can be improved. I know that some of the experts here can offer some guidance.
Thanks.

We don't post sources for pharmacies on this thread. It's not a rule -- it's just that no one wants to be responsible for another person's experience, should they have any difficulty with the pharmacy they're ordering from.
If you google ' canada ' and ' pharmacy ' you should have no difficulty locating sources.
There's plenty of information on this thread about how to check Canadian pharmacies for certification with CIPA to ensure they're legitimate.

Thanks Love. I was wondering how to make sure that the products were legitimate. I'll go back and re-read this thread.

CIPA = Canadian International Pharmacy Association
If you can verify the site through CIPA, here: http://www.ciparx.ca/pages/verify_membership.html then you can rest assured the product is legitimate.

Anyone know a derm or ps in the northeast experienced with dissolving restylane? No one wants to help me dissolve my lump!

Ask any doctor to use Hyaluronidase. Pronounced "Hi-ah-lur-on-idase."
Hyaluronidase degrades the filler product and is commonly used after *over*injecting. You cannot buy this product online. You should wait at least 2 weeks to see if the lump goes down on its own before calling a doctor about it.
But, take note that Restylane is very malleable. Meaning, you can press on the lump and massage in small circles over the area to reduce or eliminate it.

It's my first post. I've been interested in self injection for a short while, and it seems that you all here have it covered. I found a pamphlet online that deals with doctors opinions on product, injection technique, mistakes, etc.
You may view it here

Also I found an excellent video on youtube describing injection technique in the lips and nasolabial folds

Just joined the site even though I've been following this message board for years,This thread is truly amazing. I want to first thank everyones time and patience to keep searching for more ways to heal ourselves.
I've read all the pages of this thread and was sad to learn you need a RX now to order from most of the websites. LOVE i know your inbox is often full so I will not try to send you a private message,But if you could perhaps PM me with the websites you use/used along with the protocols i should follow so I can obtain an order of Radiesse,I would be indebted to you!
My skin has come a long ways from the state it use to be in ,But I still have many depressed marks(some are rolling, others are similar to pock) mainly on my cheeks and quite a few individuals scars across my forehead.
The pricing Dermatologists/Plastic Surgeons place upon the average individual is absolutely absurd,This is a method I believe I am capable of doing as I have experience with medical instruments,Needles are no stranger to me...Nor are Sub-Q injectons.
So if anyone can PM the websites to get a order of Radiesse,Thank you endlessly!
By the way,I am fully willing to post photos for those who are interested even though it is difficult to capture it on film at times. I shall do my best.
Wishing everyone the best successes!

I have an update on my radiance experience now that it has been two weeks. Now, I can actually feel the radiance and see it slightly-not swollen but raised-in two difference lines that spread out from one of my scars. I think perhaps when i was injecting this one scar I had the needle placed right at first but then when I had to push hard to get the substance out, I pushed the needle deeper into the skin missing the mark. I remember seeing the areas swell and thinking, wow, didn't think I injected there, and then I massaged and the next day it looked like nothing. Perhaps after two weeks now the collagen has actually built up in these places are something, because they have changed. My other scar which I know I got the filler in right, went thru a lot of changes but is not holding the filler well at all. So it is interesting that on my "normal skin" I am seeing something but just not in the scars. Maybe I will try again eventually with evolence breeze. If anyone self injects this let me know!

I have spoken to 2 drs about using hyaluronidase - they both advised me just waiting it out because they said it could cause my own tissue to atrophy or cause un even dissolving. It has been 10 months since my resty injection! I'm going back to my original injector in a couple of days I hope I can get rid of this lump, because I can't move on to other treatments until this is gone!
