So I have seen people talking about "I'm going to tan to cover up my red marks until they go away." eusa_doh.gif . Um...from what I've been reading, wouldn't that be the exact opposite of what you would want? Isn't that like saying that you're going to keep tanning your chest so that the tan on your chest will go away? These red marks are called hyperPIGMENTation are they not? So wouldn't tanning, which would cause more PIGMENT to be produced in the affected area, be a bad thing to do for your red marks? Correct me if I'm wrong, 'cause if I am, I'm finna go tan.

Best tans are achieved when your swimmin in the water, combination of waves and salt help your skin too.

Well, tanning seems to do different things to PIH on people. I Don't know if it negativly effects me, the only way to know is to do it. which if you dont want to risk it then dont.

You ARE NOT supposed to tan when you have red marks. It makes them last longer. Look it up.

yes. however, it will make them blend in better and be less noticeable (the difference in shades will be less noticeable than red on pasty white skin).

I was ion italy this summer. I went tanning almost everyday. My red marks were about 60% less noticable and have continued to fade.

I also didnt use sun block and i didnt burn once. I have that type of skin that works very very well in the sun. If you have a history of burning easily, put on sunblock.

Its true sun does blend in the red marks with your tan but its just temporary solution, if you do a couple of peel after your exposure and don't plan on going back in the sun for at least 2 weeks, then you'll see a great difference... trust me..
PS
i'm from italy, hope you enjoied the trip.. biggrin.gif
