I have a big red, inflamed rash around both sides of my mouth. The rash goes from the middle of my chin up to my nose. I don't even know how I got it, maybe dry skin or a reaction to something. I was wondering if I should use moisturizer around my mouth or neosporin or something to get the redness to go away. Please help me because I have to go to school tomorrow and I feel so depressed because of it. Thanks.

I tried a little bit of hydrocortisone when I first got the rash and it just made it worse. Right now I'm using neosprin cream. I attached a pic so you can see how it looks. Should I keep using neosporin or something else? I just found this new stuff online and was wondering if it's good. It's called aquaphor by Eucerin. Heres the link. AquaphorThanks.

You have what looks to be contact dermatitis. I think the culprit can be traced back to whatever products you're using on your face.

Hydrocortisone will help with itching but not so much with redness.

What should I use for the redness. Will Aquaphor help with the redness or should I stick to Neosporin? And how long do you think it will take for it to go away?

First, find out what you're allergic to.

Worry about the redness later. By trying to kill the redness without finding out the cause, you're creating a recipe for disaster.

The nature of Hydrocortisone is to dry up rashes or relieve bug bites. it can stop the itch by making the histamine levels go down at the skin level. Inflamed skin turns red. Its a warning signal that something is wrong.

You can continue to use this hydrocortisone sparingly on the rash within reason maybe 2 times a day, however, do NOT use neosporin on it. For instance, it could be poison ivy and you don't want Neosporin on that (trust me on this one, ok) Aloe Vera (pure) is another choice to use.

Because I can't clearly see what KIND of rash from the picture and made a best guess based off what you said, you should have it looked at by a medical doctor if it lasts beyond 7 days. If its been 7 days, what the heck are you waiting for?
