I've been off Accutane for about 2 months now and I have alot of redmarks left behind on my back. I'm considering on going on a sunbed because my Derm said the sun is good for Acne wheather this is the same with sunbeds i don't know. Does anyone have any experience with sunbeds and Acne marks. Have they faded away any good results?

Ultra violet rays cause red marks to last longer so that wouldn't be too superb. I dunno why your derm would tell you to get out in the sun

The marks are caused by too much melanin being in the affected area. Tanning outside or in a sunbed puts melanin into the skin, therefore, giving the affected area even more melanin, and that's not a good thing. I used to tan outside but stopped after learning it was bad. I will admit that my red marks appeared worse after I stopped because my surrounding skin wasn't tan or red, but I would rather lose the red marks permanently vs. covering them up.

how much of your back is covered in marks? I have them from my shoulders to the midpoint of my back. something i have recently tried is an asprin mask only applied on my back/chest. it takes about 3x the amount asprin, but hopefully it's worth it. i've only done the asprin mask once so i can't tell you how well it works, but my marks have recently been fading. i am using an 10% aha (alpha hydorxy) lotion on my affected areas. I put this on after my shower(s) (sometimes 2 during the day) and my marks seem to be fading slowly but surely. Hopefully the asprin mask will speed the results up.
asprin mask - *my version for the back/chest* take a microwavable cup and fill it with water and zap it until the water is hot. then take a dixie cup and fill it with some water (not a lot). then you add as many non coated asprin (any brand is fine) as you need into the dixie cup and let it dissolve into a paste. you will need a lot (more than the face mask which is about 6-8 i believe) because this is a large surface area as opposed to a smaller surface area on the face. i apply aloe vera all over my back/chest and then i apply the mask on top of the aloe vera. the aloe is simply to help the asprin mask bond more easily on your skin. let it sit there for ...uh...a while i guess. the face masks recommend 10-20 minutes, i did about 10 or 15 minutes without complications. the only thing i noticed was my shoulder peeled a little bit in one spot, so i'm happy for that because i NEVER peel from ANYTHING. i have noticed lately my marks have faded (maybe my imagination) but i'll take what i can get =) PM me if you have any more q's buddy.

the sun is bad for your redmarks..whos your derm? .. if I were you, I would try using a bleaching cream on all the darker spots. A bleaching cream with hydroquinone...but how to put it on your back??

well I'm from UK-Sunderland and my Derm said the sun is good for me and it would help with my acne. I'm just going on his word after all he is trained.
But very good point how to put it on your back I wouldn't let anyone else put it on because I'm self conscious as it is. Any way I'm going to give the sunbed a try and if I get worse I will be screaming at my Derm.
