Best Make-up to cover scars and redness

However, I have a lot of small pitted scars and a lot of redness leftover from everything. I'm getting family photos done this week and I would LOVE to find some nice makeup to help cover things up. In the past I found that my makeup would always look flakey or caked on. I stopped by Shoppers Drug Mart and the cosmetician recommended a new makeup they have called CoverFX. She said it's really good at covering up scars and red marks. The only thing is that it's really expensive. Has anyone used this product? If yes, what do you think of it? Is it worth the money? The application brush alone is $38 but if this stuff is good I'll definitely buy it.
If anyone knows of other good products please let me know!
Thanks so much,
Kim

I don't think Dermablend is available on the small island that I live in (Prince Edward Island, Canada). I'll do some searches online though to check out Dermablend for shipping to Canada though.

If you find what color matches your skin, you can buy dermablend products for a fraction of the cost on ebay. I have a demablend cover creme and it doesn't cover the pinhole/large pore scars very well, but it does cover any redness or discoloration EXTREMELY well. It is also smudge proof, somewhat waterproof, and lasts more than 24 hours w/o having to re-apply.

Does it have talc in it? I read the testimonies and I've been on other boards where they are talking about this brand. It seems to be the one of the most popular right now. I have never tried the minerals before, but if they are better than regular makeup, then I am seriously thinking about trying them.

It's also smudge proof and waterproof.
It blends amazingly well, you can't tell you're really wearing it.

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation also has really good coverage but i wouldn't recommend it if you have dry skin. I used it on accutane and it looked awful.
I think if you can get hold of it Dermablend is the best one available. Also benefit cosmetics Boing 02 concealer and playsticks foundation are great and have excellent coverage. I am using benefit cosmetics at the moment and they are great for covering red marks and scarring the only bad thing is it smudges off really easily. I'm sure that Dermablend do ship from the US so it may be most beneficial if you try this but if there is no clinic/counter near you it may be difficult to find the right colour match for your skin tone. I am in the UK and having similar problems trying to find the right colour as i can't as yet get hold of dermablend products and so finding it hard to find a good shade.

on the market to cover up just about any skin flaws you have. This Product works on your Face, legs, stomach, feet and arms. If you are interested you should really check out their website it is ColorTration.com. They even have a Customize Trial kit starting at 16.00. I used to use Mac makeup and cover fx for my face for my bad acne scars and it didn't give me nearly as much coverage as ColorTration. Trust me I didn't believe this stuff could work but i was my last resort and now I refuse to use anything else. Try ColorTration.com and you will be satisfied...... Comment me if you have questions.......

I just wanna hide the dark purple marks left by pimples...targeted coverage versus all over foundation.

type it into the search boards. This girl swears the pictures there are before and after. She swears by the estee lauder double matte foundation.
Just thought I'd try to help

Estee Lauder double wear is a good foundation to buy if you are looking for a full coverage. If you want even more coverage, then you'd probably want to buy the maximum coverage one. They are both good blenders in my experience. Just be careful if you are only looking to cover certain areas, and blend it in good.
Edit: Have you tried a concealer? A concealer might do the trick just as well as a foundation would.

Secondly, definitely splurge when buying concealer - you will be putting this stuff on your face (maybe daily) so make sure its good quality and MATCHES YOUR SKIN TONE! Nothing is worse than orange concealer so make it up to a shade lighter.
Lastly, I find that applying it with q-tips and in good light with a good mirror really helps.

HELLO...I too am from Prince Edward Island although I now live in British Columbia. I left the Island in 1981. I buy Dermablend at the Shoppers Drug Mart where I live so you should be able to get it at any shoppers in Canada.
