I think that the results of a TCA depends on many different factors, such as of your skin type, deepness (severe/moderate...) of your scar, type of your scars (rolling, ice pick...) and so on. I wanted to perform TCA CROSS in one of the clinics, I scheduled an appointment with a dr and I saw before and after pics of his patients and I can say that the results are very good!!! The doctor also performs laser therapy for acne scars and I can say that base on the before/after pics for TCA and laser, TCA gives you better results and it is less expensive than laser therapy.

What do you think about TCA peel and TCA CROSS, in terms of its work? From my knowledge, the main difference between these two is concentration of the TCA. TCA CROSS is highly concentrated solution 60% and over and applies only on depressed skin, while TCA peel is lower concentrated solution and applies all over the face. If TCA CROSS touches healthy skin (even the edge of a scar) the scar will appear, while with lower concentrated TCA (f.e. 30%) we cover healthy skin and it improves the scars? I know that TCA stimulates collagen growth, but what happens when we apply TCA Peel to normal/healthy skin, I mean when we apply Peel to the scars we cover healthy skin as well?

If anyone has a TCA Study Doc I will very appreciate if you could send it to me.

Did you mean 9 treatments for each scar or just 9 scars? Cause it takes it least 3 treatments on the same scar to see results. Also TCA 25% is really low.

Can I have TCA Cross done while I still have acne?

How much would it cost approximately in $AU to have about 10-15 ice pick scars treated?

I used a toothpick to apply my TCA Cross today. I put the toothpick a little into the pore, but now the pores look larger. Is that normal? Will a scab form and the pore shrink? I'm kind of worried. I thought that that's what I was supposed to do.

Anyone considering TCA-cross PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read everyones posting throughly. Some people are having great results, other people are having horrible horrible results.

I had 3 ice-pick scars ENLARGE and turn into boxcars from tca-cross. All hypopigmented, and one formed a keloid.

I am not alone, after reading through the TCA-cross threads, there are people with similar experience, it seems common that the scar gets wider bigger and worse.

And yes, i've waited 1 yr, they have NOT filled in.

proceed with caution

hello everyone,

I just recently bought the TCA cross treatment kit, 100% TCA, and I started on 4 ice pick scars on my right cheek first on May 7th, then as I didn't feel much pain or see any side effects for the next 2 days, then I did another 6 more (this time on my left cheek) on May 9th.
After 3 days after the 1st treatment some scabs started to form on my right cheek, then almost 7 days later the last scab on one of the deepest scars finally fell off. I have to say that during that first week, my skin looked really good, my scars looked like small freckles instead of holes, and when the scabs fell off, my skin looked really good for the following 3-4 days, it seemed like the scars were shallower, Now today May 22nd (15 days later) my face is totally healed I would say, but the scars only seem to have improved 2-5% when it actually looked like it had improved 10-15% right after the scabs fell off. I have one deep scar the size of 3 LETTERS "O" together from the word "One cent" on a penny coin, and that's the one I'm trying to get rid of, the other ones were just as big so that the toothpick could barely fit in and touch the center of the scar. but I have probably 20 of them and I should probably use a TCA peel on those because they're not even as deep and wide and the the toothpick just barely fits in. But as far as the large scars on my right cheek and probably 3 or 4 more ice pick scars that are very noticeable, I will use the TCA cross on those and try to keep you all updated, I will take pictures of my two cheeks so that for those people out there who are trying to get TCA cross will have an idea of how much it actually works. But as far as my first treatment I would say there's a 4% improvement so far. I will do this treatment every 30 days and I hope to see some improvements by October. Good luck to you all. smile.gif

sanjose is so right. i had a few scars increase in size too....from doing it myself sad.gif

champagnesupernova - congrats on taking the plunge and trying tca cross smile.gif i hope it all works out for you. the great thing i can tell you is your scars should suddenly fill in more around week 4 as the new collagen forms. this seems to be the trend anyhoo.

i still find it strange how some people benefit so much from tca cross, but others end up not having much improvement and some actually end up having their scars even worst.

I know it depends on the person's skin but i wonder if its their technique too.

People who are asking to have the documents emailed to them: do a bit of research. If you can't even do that, you have no business doing a TCA CROSS on yourself.

Hi Wynne,

I have been researching TCA Cross for over 2 months now, and have read all the threads on this forum (and everywhere else), including this 70+ page thread in its entirety. I am not looking for instructions on how to do Cross on myself, as I dont believe I have a steady enough hand, and will be seeking the help of a professional instead (although it will cost more).

I am looking for the original TCA Cross study, as I would like to present it to my derm during my visit next week and discuss the results i can expect, given my own scarring. I have tried finding the document, but it seems it is only viewable for 24 hours at a cost of $19.95 at Wiley InterScience.

Any help in obtaining the original TCA Cross study will be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

fair call. i did a search of my uni journals and couldnt get the one you wanted.

i found a more recent study where they did tca cross using 50% tca and only did 3 treatments. so its not as great as the original, but it describes the method you were after.

you are being cheap by not buying it yourself, so i expect you will take it without criticism.
