SALINE INJECTIONS

After the injection the skin raised creating a bump that lasted 30 min. After the swelling subsided I experienced complete scar revision for an entire week. When all the saline subsided the scar didn't go back as deep as it previously was.
I am sure many of you have read threads about saline injections, for those who are new here is a bit about the procedure:
The solution does not act as a filler but as a treatment. The initial response is similar to a filler, and the scar is elevated with the surrounding tissue, but it only lasts one week.
Saline is injected into the depressed acne scar, which causes stretching of the fibrous bands and mild collagen stimulation. Part of the saline solution remains in the scar and part of it gets absorbed by the body. Multiple treatments are necessary to accomplish optimum improvements. Injections are usually performed every 2-3 weeks - series of 6-8 treatments.
There is commonly a 50-80% improvement on the scarring. There is little "downtime" and the patient will not appear "treated." As the patient continues treatment, he or she will notice the tissue becoming softer and easier to inject and expand. The results are excellent after the initial treatments and the maintenance schedule has been established.
Dr. Sire did say you can do these once a week for maximum improvement. If one can get 10-15% with each injection, a series will produce great results. It is a gradual process but the results are permanent, since the effect of saline is to stimulate fiborblasts to remodel new collagen.

When I asked Dr Sire if I needed a filler like collagen or fat he replied that we need to TREAT the scar and wake up our own collagen rather then to fill it with a filler and come back every so often to refill.

I live in the midsouth and I don't think traveling to CA multiple times for several treatments is feasible. Also, there are always those people here that say saline injected could not possibly provide perament correction. I would be very interested in your response to my questions and your results.
Thanks for posting!

Haha Thanks Pete! But I was in LA for a wedding and decided to give saline a try. It worked out great because I had perfect flat skin for that entire week. I am in LA quite often, wish I knew about Dr. Sire sooner.
To be quite honest I was very skeptical of the procedure myself but after reading peoples success stories decided to go for it. What do I have to loose? So many people on this thread complain how nothing helps, some spend $700 per Subcision, but something as cheap and easy as this they wouldn't try.

I just reread your first post. It sound like your only treating 1 scar. What type of scars are you treating?
Good luck.

Its really too soon to tell.....I have a pretty deep, dime size depression.
Results are different for everyone, but I feel the more treatments I have the better I will be able to tell the improvement.
It might take 6-8 treatments. 6 to 12 weeks, depending how far apart I want to space them.

I am interested in this as well. Since I am a nurse I might have to pull out my needles and go to work.
I actually have a breast biopsy scar I would like to test this on. There are a couple of tiny pitted areas in it that might benefit. Maybe that would give me an idea on how it would work with facial scars. I will be happy to report my experimentation and progress.

Saline injections acts sort of as a chemical subcision by lifting the dermis to allow for new collagen production.
TECHNIQUE
•If any one is interested in the technique PM me

Had my 2nd set of injections, this time the swelling subsided almost immediately, there was no swelling or bruising....and didn't produce the same reaction/result as the time Dr. Sire did them. I don't think she was as aggressive. Maybe the tissue responded differently the 2nd time. Will try again in a few days, Im sure with time the technique will improve....
Can anyone share their post injection experience? For how long do you experience complete scar revision?
Maybe scorpioness can share her experience?

The 3rd set of injections went very well, the results were similar to Dr. Sire's. I do notice some improvement, but its still too soon to tell. It does seem that the topography of the scar has changed.

I had a hard time persuading my derm to do these, and just ended up asking a friend. Dr. Sire is extremely nice, you can ask your derm to give him a call, Im sure he will have no problem in telling your derm his technique.

Heya Jenya...
Sorry it took so long here, my life has been full and I haven't been focusing much on my skin. All I'm really doing now is washing with microdermabrasion cloths and the 302 soap (thinking of switching to the sea buckthorn) and using the acne lamp from acnelamp.com.
It's been a couple of years since I stopped doing the saline injections. I still want to get back into it, but again, my priorities haven't been favoring all this stuff lately. You did send me a link to get the correct saline and I still have yet to look into it. If you have found a better source let me know please!
I wanted to say that I definately experienced improvement with the injections, especially with the deeper boxcar type scars that were sort of teathered down. In some of the scars, I have had permanent results, other scars did not respond as well. I would suggest people get this done by a Doc, even though I did the injections myself.
If anyone does a search on saline injections they can read my posts from a year, year and a half ago which get into greater detail about my experience. This is a good treatment, but does not eradicate scars. I have had a lot of scar improvement from saline injections and four TCA CROSSES. My skin is a lot smoother but in bad lighting, all my scars can still be seen.

Some of you have been emailing me for my update, so I thought I would post it here.
I have to say that I was really skeptical of this procedure at first.
But as time went I really began to notice improvement. It has been 3 month and I had 7 treatment.
I would say the improvement is 30%-40% its really hard to put a percentage on these things.
And I must add that I had a very lage/deep depression, for shallow scars it should work really well.
Now the scar is not as deep and not as noticeable as before. I do hope to get more improvement as time goes by.
