Favourite foreign book??? What have you read (by a non american or english author) that you would really like to recommend.
For me...
Unbearable Lightness of Being is one of my favourite books of all time...so that and anything else by Milan Kundera I would have to put first.
Perfume by Patrick Suskind
Any novel by Isobel Allende
Oh and a question...has anyone actually read Vikram's Seths A suitable Boy?...it seems the most unopened book in bookcases the world over. I have never been brave enough personally.

Hi Frances! You and your foreign movies and books
*Anything by H.C. Andersen - his stories are not just for kids.
*"Fisseflokken" - Quite funny Swedish book about feminism (not the agressive kind). Dont know if it has been translated into other languages than the scandinavian ones.

"From the Dead Princess" from kenizé Mourad..
And I ahve to agree, any from Isable Allende but "Infinite Plan". It's hard to choose the one I liked hte most from her but i guess "Paula" and "Stories from Eva Luna"
