I had my first set of injections yesterday. I got an ice pack to put on them beforehand but not anaesthetic creme. Is this normal, because the Isolagen CD says a creme gets used, but the creme would probably have just the same effect as an ice pack anyway.

It did hurt, but it was bearable. Keeping my face relaxed was hard, but the doctor was nice and it was soon over.

My face was stinging and throbbing a little afterwards, my face was red and it swelled in the parts where injected. The swelling was mostly down in about three hours though, today I can feel the lumps under the skin, but you can't really see them. I'm being careful with washing, as it is a bit sensitive, but I could have gone in work, but having the day off is nice smile.gif

I have photos but still not sure about posting.

Hi Saturny,

glad all seemed to go well for you. But no numbing cream sounds frightening...hah..v brave of you.

I wondered where the majority of your scaring is..? FOr me, down both sides of my face and on my cheeks. Mainly rolling scars. On my forehead and nose/top of cheeks i have enlarged pores which dr.chu said are small ice pick scars and he will use tca cross on those.

Did you have all your face done or a portion?

(im going to have my nose to mouth and around my eyes injected also..but er..thats just vanity im afraid tongue.gif)

Understand about the reservations about posting your pics, but u could always black out features. I intend to do that, so at least ppl can see the (hopeful) progress, results etc.

Pls keep us posted of ur progress!

My scars are all over my face, but mainly cheeks, forehead and some on my chin. The very edges of my face are qute clear though. The injections were mainly put into my cheeks but one of the lots was shared between my forehead and chin. I think I will be having my cells kept at Isolagen so that in the future I may have injections for my increasing wrinkles smile.gif

I'll try to get round to putting my pics online, I do want to help others thinking about having it done with my experience smile.gif.

The Thread that would NOT die! Damn It is hard to believe I have been checking this site for almost two years and the Isologen thread goes back almost three and it is still getting responces. Back in 2003 there seemed to be quite a flurry of activity and interest in this new Miracle Procedure but if you read must of the early threads it seems to be more Hype then Reality with many saying they get a modest improvement if anything. I do hope the procedure is getting more effective it is STILL not yet approaved in the states
I have had 5 rounds of Fraxel Laser treatments (which did help out the acne scarring I would say 30%-50% improvements and a great improvement to my nasty complexion over all) I am now having Sculptra treatments (Formaly known as New Fill) and Like Fraxel (and Isologen) it is a slow Collegen Stimulator
It is working nicely so far (I have had two treatments My first 10 weeks ago and my second last week)
I am already noticing a nice plumping up effect in my sunken in areas (sunken upper cheeks and lower chin areas) My acne scars have also improved. I had been waiting for Isologen to get FDA approval but I am glad atleast sculptra got approved last year. Keep us all posted to your experience and good luck.

Yes. If you are considering the treatment, I would strongly recommend that you read through the full thread.

Would really appreciate to hear feedback from the previous isolagen users. sideways.gif

I would also like to hear from more people who did this a while ago. I was looking at my big pores, scarred pores today or shallow icepicks not sure in the car window reflection and I wonder if isologen has helped anyone with these type of scars.

jasmin, i have scarred pores on the front of my cheeks.

The isolagen will be for my rolling scars and my dr (dr.chu) said he would be using tca on my pores to reduce that kind of scarring.

I would suggest reading up on peoples experiences with tca. SOme ppl use this at home, others go to a derm. It may be an effective treatment for you.

I havent had any tca yet so cannot give advice on how it effects these kinds of scars until a couple of weeks from now.

Thanks you for sharing. I also have rolling scars and I look forward to hearing how these treatments work out for you. I had the exoderm touch up in November 05, so maybe I will try TCA on one of those scarred pores and see how it responds. Have you had other invasive procedures? I read somewhere that your velus hair follicles produce skin stem cells (skin biology book by Dr. Pickart) and lasers can damage these. I dont remember if it said deep chemical peels would too, but my guess is that they would.

yes, i had co2 laser.

Bad idea, wouldnt recommend it. Evasive, long down time, redness for a long time and minimal results (temp collagen boost plumps the skin, but eventually fades). Plus i have some demarkation lines now.

I didnt know about this velus hair thing..what exactly does that mean? damaged skin stem cells means what? that the skin cells dont produce collagen anymore???? O.O

well hope that saturny comes back some time to let us know how she got on.

but well..

Tomorrow at 11am i will be having my first set of isolagen injections..wish me luck guys.

Im nervous as hell..couldnt sleep last night much either which now has me paranoid that ill sleep in lol..gonna set every available alarm i have to ensure that doesnt happen! if im late = ruined fiboblasts..so im PANICKY!

Anyway just took photos and marked where im standing, its also in light that shows my scars up harshly that way you should hopefully get an accurate indication of what my skin looks like over the course of 6 months or so, will post some notes also on my experience. I will take photos as best to my ability at the same time so hopefully there will be similar light each time to give hopefully accurate documentation.

Thank you for the updates.
I just saw your pictures and I have some scars similar to yours. I hope this gives you substantial improvement. I am excited for you and wish I could be starting these treatments with a Dr. like Dr. Chu over here in the states. It looks great right after but I hope you still get very noticeable improvement when the swelling subsides.
I wonder why they approved sculptra last year but they cant approve something safer and more natural like isologen. I have read about people getting lumps with these synthetic fillers but I have not read about any adverse effects from isologen. With isologen it seems that the worse that can happen is not getting the amount of improvement you had hoped for. Good luck with your treatments.

Thank you jasmin.

I think its important to make a record as I had really wished someone had done the same when I was looking for photo results.

Right after its just swelling..i know that my face will probably look just as it did pre-isolagen in a day or two. But im prepared for that as I know the isolagen effect is generally slow and gradual with the real results not really showing until 6months +

But will def keep updating.

Hello,

Sorry not been on in a while, been busy.

Anyway went for my second set of injections this Wednesday just gone. I got a numbing creme put on this time but it didn't help that much, but I'd got nervous about it cause of the pain but it is soon over. The pain is always worse in your mind and is soon over.

My face was less red after and the doctor (Prof liggins who told me he'd recently been on this morning and richard and judy about a new facelift procedure) said I'd improved. Now I thought my skin had improved, and so did my boyfriend and my hairdresser but we thought it was our imagination as I was led to believe not to expect anything for months.

Anyway my skin is a bit bad after the injections as it was for a few days last time, just a bit rough in texture and the lumps went down after a day (you could only feel them), but I have had a mate to stay so have been drinking. Will keep you updated, hopefully I won't have to have any more injections.

Funny walking home from the injections I was avoiding being stared at, and a dog came running up to me as it if knew me, I was trying to avoid anythings attention smile.gif
