Hi. About a month or so ago, I finally saved up my shillings and bought myself an airbrush. I had wanted to get one for about 3 years, and thought it was about time to indulge myself. Although I do plan to use it for other things, my airbrush's main purpose is to 'beautify' me. The coverage is like a thin veil, practically undetectable, but leaves you looking pretty perfect. Apparently a lot of celebrities insist on using an airbrush for their make-up, it's fast and not like a mask.
I was just interested to find out if anyone else has ever tried or considered this type of make-up application. I'm not crazy about the airbrush make-up I'm using, so I wondered if anyone else had other brand recommendations. I'll also answer any questions anyone might have too.
BTW, I assembled my own airbrush, didn't buy one specifically made for cosmetics. I own the Iwata Eclipse-CS and the Iwata SmartJet compressor. I use the silicone-based Temptu foundation, which is killer to remove and leaves a strange sheen. I have heard that you can dilute and use normal, store-brand foundation as well, I have yet to test this theory.
Any help or suggestions would be great!!

I have, but it was a kit for home use. Here is my experience below:

From what I wrote it did seem quite good. But it really wasn't, the foundation made me break out, and could be washed off so easily. And it wasn't how airbrush makeup should look - amazing - it just looked like crappy foundation! I am sure if I did it all properly, used a better foundation and airbrush etc, it would look how it is supposed to... but until I am prepared to pay that much money, I will stick with my ordinary liquid foundation! How much did your whole kit cost?

Hi, EDAT. Thanks for your reply. My whole kit cost about $500.00 CDN, but before you think I'm totally insane, I do plan to use it for art purposes as well. The foundation cost about $40.00 CDN for 5 starter foundations and a small bottle of airbrush cleaning solution. Since my post, I've experimented with using Maybelline oil-free foundation. It worked pretty well, and is much easier to remove than the airbrush foundation. I still might try a waterbased airbrush foundation, because they are easier to remove from the airbrush and thinner.
I have experimented a bit, and have found that you definitely need a higher PSI (like about 15 or 20) then 4 PSI to push the foundation through and apply it thinly. I think the little compressors don't have enough power behind them. That's why I went for an airbrush and compressor that a professional make-up artist would use.
I am really pleased with the fact that with the airbrush I don't have to touch/rub my skin, use sponges or brushes that might have bacteria on them, and can apply a very thin amount of make-up to my face. You can actually see my skin texture underneath, which for an everyday basis looks much better. However, I do have to put a touch of liquid concealer on a few really bright red spots (scars that are fading).
I don't blame you for prefering to stick with a liquid foundation, though. The cost is pretty crazy (which is why I waited for like 3 years). Thanks again for your comments!
