I'm 19 and it might seem weird but i'm completely new to foundation. I never used it because I found it disgusting to put something on your face to cover your skin, I guess I had a bad experience with my mom's foundation as a kid... confused.gif

So anyway now I have some acne, not much but my skin color is rather blotchy in areas, and I'd like to cover that but VERY naturally, so it looks natural.
My skin is also veeeery sensitive, and gets red for no big reason.

So I want a foundation that doesnt clog pores, that sensitive skin doesnt react to, that looks really natural, and that will not make me break out. I don't know either if I should use liquid, powder, cream....

Help?? shock.gif

If you just want to cover stuff, then I would recomment MAC studio finish concealer, if you want all over face coverage... then go MAC studio fix foundation. just make sure that you use a brush to put them on, not a sponge. That will ensure that you get a "natural" look as oppose to the "cakey" look!

Hope that helps!

your responses about using a sponge are upsetting me. I use a sponge and i don't get a cakey look. I'm not sure why you think it looks bad. I would think using a brush would make it look worse. Your basically painting your face..that can't look too natural.

It doesn't seem weird at all that you're new to foundation! I think it is really *great* (I am almost 42).

When I was younger and wearing more makeup, I used to buy my makeup from Prescriptives and from MAC (they were just a tiny, baby Canadian company at the time!). Over the past 15 years or so I've stopped wearing most makeup, but this past summer I went looking for a foundation with the same specifications as you are looking for...after much searching and testing, I ended up choosing one from Prescriptives.

The one I chose that I think is just excellent is Prescriptives "Traceless: skin responsive tint". They carry other really nice ones, but this was the lightest weight one, and I don't care for a "made up" look on myself (doesn't suit my lifestyle). Also, the technicians are extremely well trained on colour matching -- this is why I started buying Prescriptives decades ago. I've never been so happy with any other technicians in this respect.

If Prescriptives isn't available where you are, or if it is too pricey, No.7 (from Boots) makes a very similar one, though it doesn't go on nearly as smoothly or creamily, so it's not as easy to blend -- you have to be really quick. It's called "Intelligent Colour Foundation".

Both of these are liquids, and come in rectangular tubes. I put them on with my fingers, or with a dampened cosmetics sponge. Neither *ever* looks cakey, as they are very non-opaque formulas. I am a freak about looking natural (I drive cosmetics counter people to drink, I swear! lol.gif )

If a sponge works for you... That's great! eusa_angel.gif I just find that if you're gona use a sponge with MAC studio fix, well as it's a powder... it kinda cakes up, hence why I recommended using a brush. No offence was intended in my previous post! wink.gif

I never knew foundation can also be a powder. lol i always thought foundation was just the name for liquid makeup and powder was called powder. Anyways, i really like the use of powder b/c i think it looks natural. I just wanna know, people who use powder everyday over moisturizer, does it clog the pores if you use both? Is it okay to use both for every day purposes?
