Don't Worry, Be Happy

However...
Ever notice how an animal, like a dog, could be missing a leg and be completely oblivious of his plight? He doesn't have an ounce of self consciousness and is, therefore, just as happy as if they had all four legs. I just love that and I would enjoy playing with that dog as much as any other.
Now, imagine if that dog knew of it's handicap (much how Adam and Eve became aware of their nakedness)... and thus became ashamed. It would probably sit around and sulk and avoid everyone and other dogs and cats. At first, you would feel sorry for it, but as time went on, you would grow tired of feeling so bad for him all the time because it would be a drain on you mentally and emotionally. The dog would be ruining it's own life and bringing the whole family down. It would be a burden and pretty soon it would be mostly ignored except for feeding... I've seen it happen. It would grow old and sadly one day, it would be laid down and everyone would cry, but they would also secretly feel relieved that the pain was over.
Contrast that with the happy "ignorant" dog who brings joy and inspiration to everyone despite it's hardship.
Don't be that sad dog. Be the happy one.

I know it from that song of the same name... can't remember the name of the guy. The advertisement might have used it.

I knew someone would say that. The mind is very clever and it will rationalize whatever it has already decided to believe.
But, I can play along... Ok, so if society doesn't hand you crutches, then simply decide that you don't need any crutches. Enjoy yourself on the ground, make a life for yourself there and be happy. There are plenty of others on the ground for you to mingle with.
Don't try to reason your way to happiness; that will never work. Just decide to be happy.

One Hit Wonders Lyrics
Bobby McFerrin
Don't Worry, Be Happy Lyrics
Don't Worry, Be Happy
From the Movie "Cocktails"
Performed by Bobby McFerrin
Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don't worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy (now).....
There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don't worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is
Don't worry, be happy
