I chose the first option.

When I was growing up, they just told me " oh you'll grow out of it "

Definitely the worst advice ever.

I was never told about acne but I remember when I was about 8...

Me: I'm a big man now... can't wait till i'm older then life will be great

Brother: (laughs) Wait till you get some spots then it won't be so great

That sticks in my head... my case is mild yet it has screwn me for a few years now grrrr!

I chose the third option, which I felt is okay for a child who is still young and not experiencing breakouts at the time. Soon as they get mild acne (hopefully wont be the case) then thats when I would make sure it will be discussed.

My parents did'nt even tell me they had acne untill my acne started getting worse...after that all they told me was too let it run it course...it'll get better once I become an adult ...well I'm 18 and its not getting any better...so I decided to go accutane...even though I had to fight with my mother...so this better work!!!!

I put the 3rd option as they don't really need to know at a young age (depending on what they are). If they ever did get acne then they need discussing it to but otherwise not so much because it wouldn't affect them.

Yes, definately. I believe ignorance should be stamped out no matter if the child had acne or not. Would everyone be so against acne today if we were all told as kids what it REALLY is? Most of these people today believe we just are dirty, if they knew the truth perhaps they wouldn't be so critical. Same with anything, even if my child was "perfect" in every way, I'd still want him/her to properly know about what affects others so he/she doesn't grow up ignorant and critical of others him/herself.

if we warn kiddies bout acne we should warn them about every other illness, not to mention the life threatening ones.

well you should warn kids about acne because it happens to everyone. just like we warn kids about cavities, they dont do anything about them, they'll have cavitites. as to life threatening ones, they are rare and they'll learn it in school on their own long before they have a chance to get it
