Its been 10 weeks since I started the latest set of meds from my derm. One is Retin-A Micro, the other is some pill, I forget the name right now... All of the pamphlets say that I should see at least some results after around 7 weeks of using these meds. Myself, I see no improvment whatsoever, my skin seems to be twice as oily as it was before and there are many, many more pimples and red spots than before. I'm kind of angry because the derm keeps saying how well all of these meds work and makes them sound like his miracle drugs. When I first started seeing him almost a year ago I was happier than I had been in a long time, after the first followup visit however, I just went downhill and am as depressed as before, if not more. I'm suposed to see him again in about 4 weeks. Should I be mad as there is no noticable improvement now, after 10 weeks, or should I feel obligated to stick through 4 more weeks just to get another load of shit (excuse the "french") from my derm? I am quite sick of being promised all these results and not getting even a slightly better looking face... I'd like to think he's not just giving me bogus meds so I'll keep coming back and filling his pockets with money. I really am at the end of my rope and I would not care if I just stopped taking the meds altogether, its been so long since I had clear skin that I don't even remember it, maybe I never had clear skin... or ever will for that matter.

Retin - A micro caused my face to break out twice as hard as before it. I used in for about 9-10 weeks too and then stopped. I has now been 9 months and I am getting my old skin back after trying out Dan's regimen. I'm on antibiotics right now but my forehead - which was a huge problem, stopped breaking out on and after Dan's regimen. So yeah 10 weeks in enough.
You know what my derm said when I told her that my face was the ugliest piece of shit after Retin A?
she said
"oh so it helps everyone but you?"
bitch

Retin-A took a very long time to work for me. Well into and past the 3 month period before I saw full benefits. It did finally work and cleared really bad cystic acne on my cheeks. But it dried the hell out of my face and I looked like a cherry with a smile after treatment. My cheeks still have a bit of a blush to them more than 2 years later. Given a second shot at treatment for severe acne I would have gone with Accutane.

Yah Retin-A will eventually clear your acne, but it also makes those red marks stick around for a long while. I also still have a tad bit of redness on my cheeks after about a year and a half of being off it, starting to wonder if it'll ever go away.
