I went to the doctor because I had developed a small rash on my torso and bicep areas. I wasn't really bothered by it, and my actual acne was 100% gone. I assumed that the rash was caused by working out, since it was in the areas I worked only.

Anyway, I showed the rash to my doctor, who admitted to having no idea what the rash was. However, instead of just sending me to my regular dermatologist, he put me on a short dosage of Prednisone, a steroid, to clear up this mysterious rash.

So I started taking the stupid steroids, and within a few days I felt weird. My skin would get red and inflammed easily, and I was constantly hot and irritable. I had the feeling it was a side-effect of the Prednisone.

So a mere week later, I went to see my dermatologist. I showed her the rash on my chest, and she IMMEDIATELY identified it by name - it was a common rash that (as I thought) was caused by working out and physical activity. She told me that it would go away on its own.

So I was relieved of this, and I continued to take the steroid as ordered by my doctor.

But then, two days later, I noticed that about a dozen tiny pimples had appeared on my neck, as well as one on my cheek and another on my forehead. All of them are red. I was furious. All my self-confidence from the acne clearing up went back down.

So I Googled this f*cking drug the doctor put me on, and guess what the common side effects are? Acne, hives, redness, irritability! SHIT!

So now, because my stupid ass doctor put me on a medicine I didn't even NEED because he couldn't identify a rash, I am once again dealing with this mother f*cking acne. Jesus f*cking Christ, I can't ever win.

Needless to say, I stopped taking that shit, but there's no telling how long it'll take me to get over the side-effects. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't want to sound rude or anything, but you should have looked up the side efeects before you took it anyways...

Since he said it would clear up my skin (the rash), it put me under the impression that it wouldn't have a NEGATIVE effect on my skin.

Well, my dermatologist was so impressed with my progress, she dropped my dosage of Minocyclene. I guess I'll go back up to my original dosage and hope it clears back up.

I'm mainly pissed because it took my skin about 6 months to finally get clear on the Minocycline, and I was finally done with the treatment for the most part. Now I have to start this again to clear this mess up.

the word steriod brings this to my mind... testerone, which has a role with acne production.

im really surprised at your doctor, esp if he knew your history with acne. because acne is the first thing people are told about when the subject of steroids comes up. like my sister has to take steroids for a disease she has and thats the first thing that came up. so im really surprised. id say its time to get another doctor.

She said "Well, I guess it would be an added bonus for your acne, then, if he has you on Prednisone to stop the rash."

My skin was great when she said this, it wasn't until about a day later when the steroids started to affect my skin (the redness, hives, and acne). I stopped taking them that night, and they finally seem to be wearing off now. I'm clearer than I was, at least. I just hope this doesn't become an ongoing problem from now on.
