8 years but still going strong.

i think the point for all of us is that it feels like a frickin eternity. Beucase I was soo young when i got acne, i can't remember life before it. That makes me feel sad..

Guess I win! 20+ years...let's see, started when I was 14, and I'm now almost completely clear, and I'll be 41 in 2 days, so let's say 26 years! I've finally figured out what to do with my skin! NATURAL, NATURAL, NATURAL. No chemicals, no makeup that isn't completely natural. Just cleanse with baking soda, use ACV, egg white/lemon juice mask a couple of times a week, and use my all-natural foundation. My scars are fading and I only get the occasional whitehead, usually at my jawline where I rest my head in my hand when I read forums! Oh, my gosh! It's forums that make you break out!!!! shock.gif

I started when I was 12, I'm almost 22 now. Not the longest, but probably long enough.

I've had it for 18 years, so I guess I'm in second place. If my dad were on here, he would win hands down. He started at 12 and still has it at 52. That's 40 years, which means I guess I can give up any hope of ever "growing" out of it.

Mine started at 12yo and I'll be 48 in May. A whopping 36 years!! I still get breakouts/oily skin around my period. I have some encouragement for everyone. I think because of oily skin, I have no wrinkles. Yeah, I have some acne scars on my cheeks that I can definitely see, but other people don't seem to see because sometimes I get compliments on my skin (and thank God for MAC foundation powder!) A female checker actually carded me recently at a grocery store. I have had people think that my boyfriend was my dad, and when I said "WHAT?", they then guessed my grandfather! Thankfully he didn't hear the remark. I have a 29 year old son that people assume is my boyfriend. I feel like a butterfly now. I went through some rough times and endured rude hurtful remarks, etc. I tried every known medicine when I was a teenager and I stayed away from soft drinks, fast food, fried foods, chips and sugar for at least 2 years, but nothing helped. Around age 30, I went on Accutane and that helped tremendously. I have since been through a second treatment of Accutane; WOW! I wish that everyone that has acne could try it. I use cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. It took me YEARS to start using moisturizer because my skin was so oily. I still feel that I have to wash my hair everyday, though. Anyways, there seems to be a good tradeoff when you get older. Best regards, Robin ps: I still remember my mom saying that I would grow out of it by 21 at the latest.

I've had acne for 8 years.
Sometimes I wonder if I ever had a clear face
