Anyways, I was just wondering whether your relationships w/ ur folks changed substantially over the course of you getting acne.

Parents Relationship does change. Sometimes they are not a suportive as we want the to be. Regardless of what they think of you and what they want you to do, they are your parents and the love you no matter how you look.

My father is like.. the practical economist, he would say "Who cares about acne, why spend that much money on your appearance." Also my father would most likely see me as less of a "man" if I were to bring up how I feel about it. There were other examples when I shyed away from something and he kind of sighs and rolls his eyes - especially if I'm too considerate of others about something.
So, no go from my parents.

My mother is the most supportive, she also tries her best to make my acne clear with derms and facials. SHe's the one I told to when I'm down (besides here). The only prob is that she sometimes brings it up (that my skin does not look good) whenever I have a horrible acne breakout (like today) and I don't like to think about acne those days.

If I ever said anything that showed doubt to him, I think he'd be upset. Or if I wore makeup, he'd have an issue most likely. He's pretty much the same with my sister too though... I admire the fact that appearance seems to mean absolutely nothing to him, but still... In these cases he's not the most supportive, or maybe he is and I'm wrong for feeling down about it?

2 years ago when i had 10 pimples and was concerned they said "Oh son it'll pass in a year" So i tried to wait it out
2 years later I have 300 pimples and my parents are now trying to give me advice from their "experience", they dont understand how many sites books videos ive watched about acne and they think that they're derms by telling me that eating more veggies will fuckin help me? My parents are just too full of themselves to admit that they cant fuckin handle the fact that it's their fault im like this.

yea, that kinda hurt. =(
so my acne got worse and worse. until finally my dad couldn't take it anymore and sent me to a derm (parents are split, i was living with my mum but recently moved with my dad). even before my dad kept buying me new skin care kits and picking up new acne medications and lotions from Japan.
I'd have to say, my dad was more supportive than my mom. Probably because my mom has never had acne problems and my dad did. =T
He's just worried about me going on Accutane because he doesn't like the side effects.

Those of you whose parents have said such insensitive things..I'm sorry.
Try not to take it to heart, they love you-they just don't know any better.
=) just hoping to make it feel a little better....
