Yes, you heard that one right, SHAMPOO.
I had no clue it was causing the rest of my acne until now. I've been wondering why everyone in the world uses chemical products anyway, It's not like we NEED to wash our hair... Right?

i dont think it had made my skin worse or anything, but my face can surely do without the oil and shine from all those serums and moisturisers and whatnots. (i have a few new pimples.. but it's ok.
i'm currently on roaccutane (4th month), but plans to stop it after this 9 last pills. HOORAYY! and i'm gonna stick with this regime!
stupid me, i should have found out when tdf aha products broke me out really badly. instead, i thought it was doing its job of helping me purge and stuff, and i thought it will be better with time. BIG MISTAKE. it was after using it that i got REALLY REALLY BAD skin as compared to the past hormonal acne. SIGH. caring for my acne is the ONE THING which i have truly regretted in my life. now, i have some pitted holes which i know will be permanent. but thankfully, i can stop repeating my mistakes.
thanks jan carlo and everyone else here for giving advice and support!
PS: for those people who dont believe in this regime, saying that people use acne products BECAUSE of the existence of acne, and not use and get acne.. i think what he is trying to say is... even if you have acne now, it will go away sooner or later if we dont irritate our skin. it is because we irritate our skin with all those anti acne products that acne no longer being a "puberty" kinda thing and becomes more of a illness/disease.
Hope that helps!

I got an update. So I've been doing some research and analyzing the factors in my life that may be abnormal enough to be causing the acne. My diet's pretty standard, as is most else in my life, but then I realized something. I'm somewhat of a hermit, and I spend most of my day indoors, without exposure to the sunlight, especially since my blinds are shut in my windows.
Our skin naturally uses sunlight to synthesize Vitamin D, however the downside to this is that it degrades collagen (elastic) fibers in your skin, thus leading to aging skin, as well as the risk of skin cancer due to UV rays. Despite this, I thought that the lack of sunlight was probably a factor. Humans have been living in the sunlight since their dawn--our recently sedentary lifestyles are creating this lack of sun now.
Today I spent about a half-hour outside during lunch where I would normally otherwise stay inside. I also took a long sleep during the day with my windows blinds pulled up open so the sun could shine in on my face. Honestly, it's been nearly 6 hours since I've woken up, and the quality of my facial skin feels really great.
They say that sunlight can interfere with acne medications, so I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. But today it's been great to me, especially since I haven't been on topicals for 6 months. I'm going to continue getting a healthy amount of sunlight daily. I'm fairly confident this is the key factor in my acne production.
Hope this helps you guys.

I've hit the 6.5 months mark, here's an update: Red spots still everywhere, but if I run my hand across my face it's a lot smoother than it was starting out (i.e. whiteheads guaranteed back then). If you're going to do this, you really have to stick to it. You can't just apply something for one day in the hopes that it might help a little (like I did with ACV) or else it will show bad results in a few weeks after. I'm sticking with this because I'm positive that the chems I used over the years have wrecked my face, and I'm sure this is why the healing process is taking awhile. Still, I refuse to stress myself out by applying a cocktail of chemicals to my face everynight.

If you are reading this, STOP THE BP, STOP THE FANCY CLEANSERS, EXFOLIATORS, ETC.
you are damaging your skin, thats why you break out so much!
Rub water on your face to clean your face, nothing more, one in morning and night, thats it!
I am seeing results, i am less oily and less dry! if i continue with this im sure ill see results, i am no longer sweaty face looking, my forehead used to look i dipped my head in oil.. im seeing improvments!
clean your hands before you wash your face, use cold/warm water, pat dry.. and go live your life you little scamp!

I didn't even bother reading that huge post.. i simply skimmed through it and saw about halfway through the same major problem that everyone makes.

-You NEED to wash your face with at least water. If you're doing absolutely nothing like I was for the last 7 months, your condition may improve a little bit, but it will definitely not be cured. You need to actively be doing SOMETHING to try to improve your condition. Right now I'm washing my face in warm water for 2 minutes so it can soak all in. I'm starting doing this twice a day; I started a couple days ago. I note that whenever I wash my face with water, it does feel better, and my skin quality is pretty smooth afterwards.
Good luck.

Hey man, I actually read this thread last year and have been keeping up since then. Jon Carlos had doubts that it would work for people with severe acne. Well, he's wrong about that. My severe acne was definitely caused by medication and products. My acne now has really subsided and is very very mild. I have macules but those will go away soon. I was thinking the same thing when Jon Carlos put up the water idea. I actually did more research and emphasized on points that Jon might have missed out on. Btw, since it's winter time right now for those of you who are actively posting during this time of season ... it's colder than usual. Your skin is more prone to acne because cold weather can lead to dry skin. Dry skin causes your body to produce oil to help maintain moisture (homeostasis). Just something you guys should know. You'll notice more people tend to break out during this time of season. This might impede recovery process for those who are beginning to use the all-water but no worries. As time passes, your skin will regenerate into something tougher and more combative. ANYWAYS ....

This acne blog I wrote might answer some of your questions since Jon isn't here lol ... it's basically the same thing Jon says but more in depth. I added valid analogies and connections that really confirm that consistent acne problems are caused by acne medication. If you do read it you might find some things that really might suprise you hehe. Evil pharmaceutical companies hint* hint* lol

read my blog www.kissacnegoodbye.blogspot.com ... ALL YOU NEED IS WATER. You use water to allow your skin time to regenerate into a healthier skin layer that will combat acne. The skin you have now is damaged by chemicals and products. Of course you're going to breakout because how can your skin function when it's been bombarded with all these chemicals. Give it at least 6 months of just using warm-hot water and you'll see dramatic improvements. Water does a good job in removing dead skin cells and it's safer in fighting acne. The time it takes for pimples to disappear will reduce. Avoid lotion and use it when your face is really dry. Remember, your skin was already made to maintain a proper moisture. It's dumb how people buy so much stuff these days to try and make their lives easier when in fact they are only making their lives a lot more difficult.

Dude, I also have bacne. The thing I did is simply run water through my back. And wash the rest of my body with soap except my face pfcourse.
I think blackheads are not a bad thing. It is simply a plug to keep our enlarged pores closed. No matter what you do it will always come back as long as you have large pores. And you are not alone with that dude, I also have them here on my nose for years.

Just transition straight to water ... You don't even have to go through that vinegar process. Just stop it and it will make your lives so much easier. Remember that time Jon experimented using vinegar after his face cleared up? A pimple appeared right where he dabbed the vinegar solution. I had very severe acne and quickly transitioned to water only. It's been a year already and I barely have no acne whatsoever. It's not even noticeable and I just have some red marks that are quickly fading away.

Wow, dude! It's good to be re-assured of this regimen! Anyway, the thing I know about red marks is that it will fade faster if you let your skin flake. read my simplified guide and my log.
But oh well, your doing good! So live your life to the fullest dude!!!

When your skin flakes, I'm assuming it's going to be dry. True your skin will shed but it's not natural. Your body was already made to properly maintain the right moisture in your skin. You really don't need lotion unless you feel it's really dry. As for the red marks, just let time pass. Speeding the process up will only hinder your skin's recovery. Just ignore it and don't even think about it. It's been a year and a month now since my severe acne and my skin is almost flawless except the few red/purple marks aka macules (I believe it goes to red-->light purple-bluish--> then it's gone). It seems like each month that passes now that my pimples are gone, my skin is looking and feeling so much better. It's CLEAR SILKY SMOOTH !! MUHAHA!

Dude, if skin's shedding is not natural then we would have a very thick layer of skin. Shedding is the way of the skin to maintain itself on it's optimum performance. You better read skin biology. It explains a lot.
And I am happy for you now that you have recovered your clear skin!! But do not spread misinformation dude for the sake of many. Red/purple marks are not natural in the skin so the system itself find it's way to correct it. And the best way the skin do it is through shedding. And to tell you, in my regimen there is no rushing things, how can you say you rushing things when you don't even interfere in the slightest bit?
