Well I have had enough with the finish ordinary foundation can give me. I can blend it to perfection and it will look good. But I need something that lasts all day - not 4 hours! And normal foundation is just so much hard work, and to get it looking completely natural you have to spend ages blending and blending and coverage from a natural looking foundation is very little - its just too sheer.

I was wondering if anyone has one of these machines? And how good their results were? You can buy kits with an airbrush, air-foundation and a pressurised can of propellant (instead of a compressor). If I think this looks good then I will probably go and buy a ordinary compressor and then upgrade my airbrush as well.

And the good thing about it is that you can also put specially formulated fake tan in there as well as foundation (not at the same time!) and give yourself the perfect all over body tan. The coverage from the foundations can either be extreamly sheer or high coverage, depending on your needs.

So does anyone have any experience with these beauties?

Not the Sally Hansen kind, huh? Ha ha... that's the only one I've used. I'll just sum it up for you: it looked cheap because it WAS cheap. No good coverage, AT ALL... atleast not for me, that is. That's cool about those machine ones though... how do you buy them?

Well I brought the kit today...its called Rio So Perfect Fast And Flawless Foundation. I brought mine in Boots (uk chemist) on the internet they sell them for £99, and this one was discounted to £22.25!!!

You get the airbrush (metal not plastic) a can of air, a dark foundation cartridge, a light foundation cartridge, foundation cartridge mixer, hair band, a giant puff, colour chart, and instructional video.

Well I immediately used it when I came home. It is very hard to use...I am not talking about this particular kit, but airbrush makeup in general is just hard to learn, and you will improve as time goes on. I looked at the colour chart and selected what I thought my colour was, oh how wrong! I am quite pale and I have always had to select the lightest foundation possible. I sprayed it on my face like the woman did in the video and I looked like some hospital patient, so I turned the dial on the mixer bottle - which adds more dark foundation (there are numbers on the chart and numbers on the mixer) and hey presto it was a good colour.

The woman in the video just sprays her face left right left right for about 20 sec SOLID!! That is a load of rubbish...it would give you far too much. I prefer to do my face in sections so I spray my cheek - I only need to press the button for about 2 seconds. Then you just leave it for 5 sec and pat it matte with this giant puff. Then repeat for other cheek, chin, nose, forehead, and I do my neck too because it is just SO quick, no rubbing and moving the foundation to cover the area then blending...you just press and the whole area is covered.

Well my first impressions of the foundation is very good, and I know that this is only the second time I have done it in my life - and when I was reading about this on the net it says that your finish will drastically improve over time and with practise! So its going to get great! It covers very well and if you need more coverage just pat and spray pat and spray etc.

I have had it on for 2 hours now and still looks perfect! Usually my cheeks stay matte but my chin and nose will need to be re-done every 2 hours due to my incredibly oily T-Zone....but I am still matte...yey!

So I think I have found a winner! As I get better with this new technique I will let you know. I know that if another person does it for you it will be so much better, because then you can cover your eyes with your hands! No more skin coloured eyebrows! So tomorrow I am going to get my mum to do it for me...see if that is any better.

Tomorrow we are going to London to see a show with dinner after, so that is why I wanted it so desperately! That will be the test as to how good it really is…I cannot keep saying excuse me I have to go to the bathroom and keep on re-doing my foundation!

If you can’t get the Rio kit...which is a shame as that custom colour mixer is excellent! Then you will have to buy an airbrush - the sort for hobby-craft (not a paint gun for a car!) they are all the same there is no such thing as a foundation airbrush! You will need an air source, i.e. a compressor - one with low psi about 4. They are small things that sit on a desk not the giant cylinder type. I am going to buy one ASAP as I don't like using the can of air as I know that each time I am using it the amount goes down...where as with a compressor you can spray to your hearts content (replacement cans are £4.95...that’s about $10). A foundation, it must be liquid, and when I say liquid I mean like water, otherwise it will not come out of the pin prick nozzle. I suggest you buy a foundation designed for airbrushing, as although makeup artists dilute their foundation I would not be confident enough in doing so and would probably end up wasting bottle after bottle, and it isn't too expensive anyway.

So there you have it, I will tell you how well it holds up tomorrow! But I say GO BUY ONE!!! It is the latest revolution in makeup.

P.S. I have brought some Sally Hansen Foundation from eBay US, but it has not arrived yet, I will let you know how I get on with that!

Well we had a great day!

I put the foundation on at about 9am and it is still here now at 10pm! This system is truly amazing...my nose did get very oily but that happens normally! All I did was take a powder compact and a sponge and just pat (you don't blend as that would remove the whole point of airbrushing!). It did not cake or separate at all with my oily T-Zone! Just got shiny.

There are loads of these Rio Airbrush kits on eBay. Most of them are for tanning, but the kit is exactly the same, just that you don't get the foundation...so you would have to buy your own or the actual one from Rio. There is a brand new foundation kit on there now, although it is £55.

Let me know if anyone else decides to buy one of these - tell me how you get on!

Airbrush foundation sounds pretty interesting, am curious to know if you are still happy with the results?

Also, how hard is it to get the makup off?

Hey...yep I am still amazed with the results. As I said earlier it is hard to apply, and you will have to practice - but it is worth it.

Well! This is the stupid part, although it has this amazing staying power, when you put water on your face it just comes off in your hand! So yes it is VERY easy to remove. Although I don't know what it would be like when / if you sweat. I know that makeup artists can put an alcohol in with the foundation which changes the properties of the foundation and would mean that it would become water-proof...i.e. you could go swimming with it on, but this makes it almost impossible to remove it easily!

I have still not got the technique right, I have tanned my arms with the dark foundation!!! And that looks like the sort of finish a model would get, but the face is harder because of your hair and you cant really keep your eyes open, so if you can get someone to apply it for you...if not then practise makes perfect!!!

so.............how much are these and wear are these cause i do not have money to be buying this or the special makeup that prolll comes with it but i really want it. lol

Well the kit I have is on eBay at the moment:

But that is very expensive compared to the £25 I paid! There are other airbrush tanning kits from the same company which are always on eBay but you would need to buy an airbrush foundation instead of the tanning solution that would come with those kits. I find this foundation quite drying and when I need to buy some more I will buy a professional one which will improve the finish.

So if you go down my route it will cost you max of £60 if you had to buy everything separately. If you want a professional airbrush, compressor and foundation then you will need to spend about £150.
