I have been using The Regimen for over 2 years, and my skin is amazingly good, especially compared to where I started. But, I don't feel like the soaps are really getting makeup off, and when I check with a cotton pad and alcohol every now and again, I get TONS of residue. Can anyone recommend a good pre-soap makeup remover that won't make me break out again?? I think it would help with the small blackheads and irregularities I still get.... THANKS! Melanie

Hi Melly,
Try using a light-weight oil to sort of "melt away" your makeup before cleansing. I like Grapeseed and Hazelnut oils the best, but you can even use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is readily available at any grocery store. I just use a few drops each night before cleansing and it takes away everything, including mascara! The oil works so well because many cosmetic products have ingredients that are oil-soluble, so using an oil as a makeup remover helps to release the makeup from your skin so it all cleans away nicely. Give it a try!
Take care!

Jess, thanks for the reply! I have been reading about people using olive oil as a cleanser in some of my magazines, so I might just try that. Then go with the regular routine after that. I like these simple solutions! Melanie

Another otpion is Dove soap (for sensitive skin). I use this as my cleanser and it works amazingly well to take off my make-up too.

I'm glad somebody started a thread on this. I've just been trying out mineral makeup the last few days and I can never tell if I got it off or not. I like Jlynne's idea of using oils. My face cleanser is for dry skin and has a coconut fatty acid and rose hip seed oil in it, so hopefully it's doing the job.

Hi melly...
I use the Kukui Grapeseed cleansing oil from Alpha and it is awesome!
Not a trace of make-up is left behind. I put the oil on my face with a cotton pad then I massage my face with my fingertips just cause it feels good and works it over my face thoroughly, then I wash with my regular cleanser (Vegecol by Aubrey Organics). Just a quick wash and I'm good to go!
Hope that helps?

a bit of a simple reply, but what has worked for me and never broken me out is Almay Gently Clean Non-Oily Face Makeup Remover Pads.
They're hypo-allergenic, oil free, fragrance free, non-comedogenic
Just be sure to wipe your face super-gently with them! removes make-up beautifully
