I think its all about your moisturizer.
I liked how my makeup wore when I used Clean and Clear oil free moisturizer.
Also I used the C&C blotting sheets these work really well to touch up.

My skin is oily if I don't have enough moisturizer too!
Keep the skin moisture (not oil base) enough might help controling the oil.

I am so sorry - I did not know I would offend anyone - I was only trying to help!
You were talking about other products - I just thought I would offer you one you may not have heard of. You simply did not have to be so RUDE! I was only trying to help....

Have you ever tried Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing sheets instead of tissues? They get a lot of oil off and don't smear your makeup.
Clean & Clear's Oil Absorbing sheets area miracle! They absorb all the oil on your face without removing your makeup. They're these little blue, kinda rubbery feelings sheets. You get 50 in one little pack and it's only like $5.00 so it's not that expensive at all. The package is small too so you can put it in a bag or pocket. I couldn't live without them!
As for preventing oil, I don't know much about that. I use a Clean & Clear moisturizer that helps eliminate shine and it actually does a pretty good job. I also use a MAC foundation which aids in oil absorbing. But other than that I don't know about any creams or gels that help keep your face matte.

Try putting a thin film of milk of magnesia. It definitely mattifies and helps control oil for me.

Neutrogena's pore refining mattifier does a brilliant job for me!

Hey surewhatever,
I know you're an aromaleigh person, but did you order any samples for Jlynne? I just got mine the other day, and I have to say, I was alright with aromaleight, but jlynne blows it out of the water! Looks way more natural on me and I don't have to mix two colors together to get the right shade like I did w/ AL, and doesn't have the slight sheen that aromaleigh seems too. I also got her finishing powder and that seems to help keep the oil down. Only my 2nd day trying it out, but so far, it's the best of all that I've tried.

After reading reviews on makeupalley, I just purchased Bath & Body works skin mattifier, and so far am very happy with it. I put it over my moisturizer/sunscreen, and it seems to help keep the shine down for a few hours.
Hopefully I'll continue to like it, and will post again if I find any negatives. (Such as breakouts, product stops working, etc.)
Maybe I'm just lazy, but I hate having to constantly blot with those tissues!

I use the blotting sheets by Shiseido throughout the day. It has an anti-bacterial powder in it.
Bobbi Brown also makes a shine control gel/moisturizer that I use in the morning before I put on my make up that lasts throughout the day.
