Hi, I am new to the boards. I am an african american women(light skin) who has suffered with acne for about 12-14 years now. I have dark spots on my face that I want to be able to cover and am wondering if this Mac Studio Fix will do the job...I don't really have redness that needs to be covered...just dark marks....please help!!  sad.gif

I think it should be able to help with the dark spot issue as well as long as you can find a proper color match. I have some dark spots I cover as well as red marks, and it works really well for me. I use the sponge to dab on extra coverage on any spots, and then use a brush for all-over coverage.

You should go to a counter and test it out and see what you like and what might work best for your skin type (oily/combo/dry?).

Good Luck! smile.gif

Love MAC too!!! Their concealer has amazing coverage especially with a small brush and their selection of shades is great... even for someone deathly pale like me.

I've been just a lurker here lately, but I just have to comment. Heh. cool.gif

I'm SO excited to get MAC Studio Fix. I just had to after reading everyone's praises. biggrin.gif The only downside is that I don't have a MAC store near me, and the closest one is about an hour away. neutral.gif So I was thinking of maybe just buying it on MAC's website, or on Ebay. I was wondering if you guys think I should go to a MAC store and have them match my skin tone, or should I just pick a colour I think would match? Haha. I know I should probably go downtown, but ... eeeh, it's faaar. eusa_sick.gif Hmm...I dunno. eusa_doh.gif

Also, (this is off topic but...) I begged my Mom to buy me ProActiv (BEFORE I read up on it, of course eusa_wall.gif ) and it should be here any day. But I've read everyone's comments about it, and now I'm bummed. I seriously though it would do wonders for me. eusa_shifty.gif I always fall for those good advertisements on TV. Haha. Oy. I guess I'll find out. confused.gif

The MAC foundation that I commented on in this post is the Studio Finish Matte foundation, different than the Studio Fix. It is awesome and makes my skin look even and lasts longer than other long wearing foundations (i have tried them all), as well as not being cakey. I like that it is a liquid foundation, opposed to Studio fix, which is powder/foundation in one. Liquid , then concealer, than topped with loose powder works best for me.

Do you find that the Studio Finish rubs off easily? That was the main thing that turned me off from Studio Fix, it came off way too easily. But if this one is as long lasting as you say and controls oilies AND doesn't rub off, then I definitely want to go check it out. The best I've come across so far in long lasting is Max Factor, but the color's not quite right and it's driving me insane.

I used to use max Factor too before i switched to studio finish, and I find the MAC one better becuz the color looks more natural, and it stays on better. It also says non-comogenic and the Max Factor one doesn't say that on the bottle...
Another suggestion would be to use a Matte lotion, such as clinique one, on your t-zone, underneath foundation, and it sets it even better. I do that during summer, when I get most greasy. You should also use a goodtranslucent powder, the colored kind looks cakey over foundation, but translucent sets the shine without adding unnatural color.

Mac Studio Finish Concealer is great...it comes in a small "pot" and will even cover tattoos. I like to apply Studio Fix powder over the concealer. You can order it from maccosmetics.com or from a Mac store.

how is studio fix for reallyoily skin? like the kind where you use one blotting sheet at noon & it is completely soaked with oil.

i'm a little scared to try it because i tend to wipe my face with my sleeves a lot because i'm really insecure about the oilyness, so i rub off my makeup a lot. but if the studio fix can tame this, it would be really great... hmm..
