Well I am constantly changing make-ups, I've tried every make-up, from the expensive ones like Channel and Chrsitian Dior, to the cheaper ones like Cover Girl. I had the worst ones, like clinique and the better ones, like lancome. Overall no make-up satisfied me, it either wasn't enough coverage, was to much coverage, to oily, to dry, or streaked on me. So I spent the other day, going from make-up counter to make-up counter testing different make-ups, reading labels, and asking the people who work the counters about them. After all my research I settled on MAC, which was developed by make-up artists, its oil free, medium coverage and not expensive. Since I just started out I will keep everyone posted on how it works. So far i like it, not dry, not oily, feels light, and matches my skin tone great. eusa_clap.gif

I love MAC its the best makeup i have ever came accross and it doesnt make me breakout, i love the brushes and everything, even though its a little bit more expensive than cover girl its worth it. I love the studio fix the best which is like 2 in 1 and they have so many diff colors that there will be one to suit everyone. the studio tech is good for more of a coverage like for a party or a night out but fix is the best for daytime.

This is my second day wearing it and I'm speechless. They made the perfect foundation. I'm using their studio fix. It doesn't make my skin irritated, it gives me a great matte finish and it stays on all day. It makes my skin look flawless. I don't recommend touch ups though. I love it! eusa_clap.gif

I use a lot of thier paints under my eyeshadows, as well as a thin line (using a small brush) underneath my eyes to keep my eyeliner from smudging or rubbing off. Works great, regardless how oily my skin gets during the day or from a night out clubbing!

(And that is saying alot, as I tend to wear really dark, dramatic "gothy" makeup)

I use MAC's loose powder occasionally. Doesn't cause breakouts, feels light, and is finely milled. Not too travel friendly though.

I really like their eyeshadows and lipglasses too.

I have a compact of their Studio Fix foundation, but I'm scared to try it since I've heard that it causes breakouts for a lot of people (makeupalley.com). sad.gif

Their website clearly states that it's non-acnegenic. Meaning it can't cause breakouts. If they are getting blemishes, then it's because they already have active acne or they are using something besides this. I think it looks best once you've worn it a long time because it gives you a creamy look.

Hi Ladies! biggrin.gif
After reading so much about MAC Studio Fix, I decided to go to the damn make-up counter and get some help picking out a shade this afternoon. I have to say I feel pretty confident trying it when I know that some of you that have sung it's praises deal with the more severe end of acne issues...to me that says a lot about a make-up.
Soooo...I'm gonna wait and try it tomorrow, on a clean face, and let you know where I stand on all this MAC craziness wub.gif !
The only thing I worry about is the powder factor with any flakiness I've got...
I'll be back to update!

I think you will be more then pleased with the results, make sure to moisturize well and you shouldn't have any flaking problems, good luck i hope it works as good for you as it does for me!

One thing I hate about makeup are the flakes because it makes your skin look bad. So I have to exfoliate and moisturize a lot. anywayz...

I've stocked up on the Studio Fix so I won't be without it. It's great. wub.gif

Flakies=gross!! Agreed! sad.gif
What are you using to exfoliate and moisturise? How often do you exfoliate??
I think I remember someone mentioning that...so I did just do a scrub and a mask so that I'd be in tip top shape to try my MAC tomorrow. So, we'll see! biggrin.gif

My first day with the MAC!!!

So let's see...first off, I don't ususally wear make-up. I hate the feeling, so it takes something pretty damn good to impress me! That said, I really like this Studio Fix stuff! I was sooooo hesitant to try it. I thought a powder would cake up on any dry spots and look NASTY...but, this stuff didn't (surprise eusa_dance.gif!! ).
I would say so far so good- even with my face feeling all crappy from that damn Clearasil cleanser I tried evil.gif ....
The few flakey spots that I couldn't exfoliate and moisturise into submission before I used it didn't end up looking horrible with the powder. I was pretty impressed! It's actually really velvety I thought.
I really like it so far...but I'll keep you updated wink.gif ...

P.S.
I used a big powder BRUSH! I knew the only thing I'd want the sponge for was detail type stuff (I'm not a big fan of sponging on powder of any sort for some reason...feels yucky to me!).

I just bought HyperReal foundation from MAC today. Will this one make me break out or it is the same formulation as the Studio Fix?

I'm not sure, but I think all their make-up is oil free so you shouldn't have any problems, if you do they offer full refunds biggrin.gif

Hey ladies,

well I went out and bought the studio fix. I was out of my mac blot powder and decided to try this one out instead. Only thing, since it's supposed to be a foundation and powder do any of you wear foundation with it or just by itself? Plus the make-up rep told me that if I wanted it to control my shine I'd have to use the blot powder on top of it. So that's just seeming like a lot of make-up to pile on.

Anyway, I tried it today without foundation and finished with what's left of the blot powder and it looks okay but I was hoping for a little more coverage. So I was wondering, what's the difference between studio fix and studio tech? Is studio tech a substitue for foundation as well? And the full coverage one, is that too heavy for daywear? (I want to be able to look normal in natural lighting, a feat not easily done.)

Any help would be appreciated!

I am not sure, your best bet is to go back to the mac counter and tell them exactly what you want your make-up to look like, describe what you want and what you don't want and they should be able to find the perfect make-up for you. MAC always offers a 100% refund on make-up, so if your not happy with what you purchased bring it back and try something else. I am currently using MAC studio finish, which is a foundation, it give good coverage, and the lady at the counter matched it perfectly to my skin, you cant even tell i wear foundation.

I guess I'm the only unlucky person here. After reading all the raves about MAC Blot Powder from another website, I went out and bought one myself. Only after two days, I broke out all over my face... even in places where I don't get pimples! The only places I normally break out are my cheeks. But this time, along with my cheeks, I've gotten several on my forehead, nose, and chin. The sales person actually told me they're makeup are NOT OIL FREE. Just to make sure, you should also ask yourself. Well, at least they give refunds.
