Has anyone found a sunscreen or even a moisturizer with SPF that hasn't broken them out or worsened acne?
If you could suggest some brands or products that would be great! :)

I've been avoiding sunscreen/ SPF because a lot of people say it does break them out - but I feel like by not using it I'm setting myself up for premature skin ageing or skin issues worse than acne (such as skin cancer). I know I really should be using one, especially because it's always sunny here and I have pale skin.

www.lumiplexionskincare.com

they have an SPF 30 and it's perfect. it's the only one that didn't cause any problems for me. it's not waterproof though.

CeraVe a.m. also has SPF in it and it's just a moisturizer... I plan to use this while on accutane. I currently use the p.m. version but that has no SPF.

I've only used the EltaMD UV clear spf 46 sunscreen for about two weeks, so I'm not sure if it's too early to suggest it to anyone else or not. I can't even say with 100% certainty that it hasn't broken me out, but I read a ton of reviews on makeupalley.com and people just love it for their acne prone skin.

It has zinc and a chemical sunscreen and goes on clear, it also has 5% niacinamide for acne and is a very light texture that soaks in pretty quickly.

Good luck!

I have used CeraVe moisturizer with SPF 30 in the past. It never broke me out and did a great job of moisturizing too.

Now I use La Roche Posay SPF 60 Sunscreen Milk. I can't say enough about it! It melts right into my skin, does not make my extra oily like most sunscreens do, doesn't feel heavy on my face, and best of all provides GREAT protection from the sun. I get PIH very easily so I use this everyday. And it has not broken me out!

I use Cosmedix natural sunscreen. I hate any sunscreen and I only use it if I know I will be outside a lot. Otherwise, 10 mins in the sun isn't an issue. It's 30 SPF with titanium dioxide.

Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone :)

I was wondering - is there a sunscreen recommended by Dan at all for people using the regimen?
I'm not using the regimen myself but I thought that there might be because of BP increasing sun sensitivity...

" With SPF:

Avoid:
  • Most sunscreens. In my experience, most SPF moisturizers I have tried have broken me out. I am uncertain if this is due to a particular active ingredient or the stabilizing ingredients. I am researching this and will report back when I find out more.
  • Isopropyl Palmitate, Isopropyl Myristate, Myristal Myristate. See acne.org/ingredients for a complete list of ingredients to avoid.
  • I have not found any good SPFsother than Oil of Olay Classic Gentle Formula (see below).
Look for:

The only SPF which I have found that works well (and I have tried them all!) is:
  • Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer - Sensitive Skin "
I should have looked around the site a bit more! I found the above product recommendation / info about moisturisers with SPF (for people using the regimen) at this link http://www.acne.org/...ucts-guide.html (thought I'd post it here in case it helps anyone else out).

Has anyone tried that Olay moisturiser with SPF Dan suggests?

I think I'd prefer an actual sunscreen rather than a moisturiser though. I'll have a look into the other products mentioned in this thread - I t will probably come down to which one I can get where I am.

Thanks for letting me know that! :)
Always seems to be the way -- having to decide between a product that might work better or one that probably wont break you out haha

Lilly75, thank you for those tips!

That's ok :) but I didn't come up with them - just found them on this website :)
