'm worried that I'm losing too much initial weight to finish my water fast?
I’m currently on day 4 of a 14 day water fast for acne. I’m concerned that I’m losing weight too quickly and won’t have enough reserves to finish the fast. I’m wondering if I should break fast now, start eating again to gain higher initial weight and start again, or keep going now.
Heres my situation:
I am usually about 6’3 and 194 pounds, already slender. I’ve been trying to fast for the last 6 weeks, trying to hit 14 consecutive days, but always fail: my longest was 5 full days. Since June 23th, I’ve probably spent over 20 days fasting. I start fasting, give in, eat until I get back up to the 190s, and start fasting again. Recently, I started a 2 day water fast on July 28th which lasted just 2 days. July 30/31 I spent refeeding and then 4 days ago (august 1st) I started another fast. My weight when I began was about 194, but I lost 10 pounds in the first day, and now midway through day 4, I’m already down to 174.5 pounds…almost 20 pound loss. I still 10 days to go, and at 6’3 I don’t want to fall below 160 (20 bmi.) I imagined that 174 would be the kind of weight I see at the end of a fast, but I’ve lost this much and I’m not even halfway through.
I think it’s because the fasting I did before, and I’ve burnt too much of my and reserves. I really need to hit 14 consecutive days and I DON’T want to finish with some emaciated look. If my weight loss doesn’t start slowing down significantly, I won’t finish…already if I lose exactly a pound a day for 10 more days I’ll finish 164, 30 pounds below my starting weight, and keep in mind my BMI was 24.2 when I started.
Now I’ve been dry fasting as well as much as possible, which I believe may be a contributing factor to the weight loss.
What do you think? Will I be able to safely finish? Is 14 consecutive days the magic acne-bullet?
