I've been using Retin-A Micro (.1%) for 7 weeks now. I have seen little results and I keep breaking out. I am also on Solodyn 105mg daily.

My problem is my face always appears red, kind of like it has light sun burn. I work outside all day as a manager of a community pool, so it may have been sun burn, but it does not feel like it now. My face does not hurt or burn, its just red.

I haven't been using sun screen consistently which is a problem.

My question is, should I stop using Retin-A to see if the redness calms down, even though I'm close to the point where most people see results when using this product. If I should stop using Retin-A, can I use BP or any other acne medication on my face? I use Dan's BP in the morning, but only on the affected areas.

I'm definitely using sun screen from here on out.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

I would use a high SPF sunscreen that offers waterproof UVA AND UVB protection. At least 50+ spf. And reapply that stuff every 45 minutes. It's a pain in the butt, but Retin A makes your skin soooo sensitive to the sun that you need to.

Your skin will always look a little red on Retin A, but I'm betting most of the redness is from not applying sunscreen very often.

That happened to me as well about 10 weeks in to using differin. As soon as summer came round my face was constantly red, bare in mind i have olive skin tone so i've never burned before, a few hours in the sun i got sun burn on the sides of my nose (first time in my life at age 20). I might of missed that area when i applied sunscreen but the rest of my face still went red despite broad spectrum spf30.

Taking a few days off differin got rid of the redness and now i only apply it once or twice a week.

like green cables said try spf50+. I've ordered some obaji nuderm spf50 sunshield. it's supposedly for people using retinoids and acne prone skin.
