Hi all,

I went on yasmin to control my heavy debilatiting periods and for my mild/moderate acne in 2010. My new doctor took me off it in January as she felt it was making my migraines worse, as it turns out they were getting worse due to me having a intolerance to citrus and I had binged on bitter lemon during the christmas period. So now I've been migraine free for 5 months thanks to avoiding citrus and wanting to go back on yasmin as it really was a miracle pill for me and I really hated that she forced me to come off it. My question is will it work a second time on my acne? I'd say my breakout I got from coming off is probably no worse as what I was getting before going on the first time.

I know for a fact my migraines were caused by the citrus as since discovering it was my issue I've traced all my bad ones back to eating something with citrus in. I know yasmin has been the cause of some controversy recently but I am healthy non smoker with no history of cancer/heart disease etc in my family and it improved my life so much last time.

Any birth control will only control your acne as long as you're on it. BCP works by giving you a dose of hormones different from what your body naturally produces. Pills like Yasmin often work for acne because they leave you in a state with higher estrogen and less androgens.

By the way, Yasmin works because it contains a low dose of spironolactone. If you just want the acne benefits, go on spiro instead.
