So one of the sides of my lips are cracked, I'd usually use carmex during the day and vaseline overnight. This prevents cracking but I'm not sure it particularly aids recovery. There has been a couple of times I've forgotten to put vaseline on and the morning after my lips are slightly less cracked.

I'm wondering if using vaseline doesn't let the cracks heal themselves and is better as a preventive measure?
