Okay....this might sound a bit gross, sorry, but I've been taking isotretinoin/accutane for 11 days now, side effects have been pretty standard - dry skin, chapped lips, big ol' breakout, but my scalp has been a bit itchy.

I've never had trouble with dandruff or a dry scalp before, so I'm pretty convinced it's the drug.

Has anyone else had this?

I am also on accutane for 1 month. I also had this problem after the first week. Then i always moisterize scalp every time i feel itchy or after i clean my hair with B5 Pro Vitamine Hair care or Palmer's Coconut Oil formula which i bought in walmart.Either one always works for me. Also i used Selsun 2.5 % (blue one) for shampoo. After couple times keep doing this, i felt less itchy and dandruff. At first i have to put it one couple times a day as it s so itchy but now i only use B5 once every day . Remember try to massage ur hair after put it on. Your scalp will obsorb it and it will take effect.

I'm not sure I can get the other products in the UK (we don't have walmart) but I'll definitely try the Selsun. Thanks for your tips :)

Hi there, welcome to the Accutane family!

I've been on 40mg since April 30th, today is day 27 for me. I also experienced the itchy scalp too in the beginning. My hair is on the dry side because I color it but I've never had a problem with dandruff or my scalp so I know it's the medicine. Lots of people using this medicine like the Neutrogena T Gel but I ended up getting the Biolage Dandruff shampoo because it's safe for color treated hair. I'm using it twice a week and it's really helping. I found it at Ulta.

Good luck! :)
