So, I'm sure all of us have heard of the dreaded accutane rash. (I'm on 20mg)

Before I took accutane, I had mild eczema, so you can only imagine what I had during accutane.
At the moment, I'm 8 months in (stopping in 2 weeks), so hopefully this could give you all an idea of what you might be facing. Please note in mind that I got this reaction probably because I NEVER used moisturizer before the 2-3rd month. Only then did I show my derma who told me to get cream. But even then it wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. The main areas are: The arms (the worst)- doesn't appear under the arms but on the forearms and up the biceps. As long as you moisturize everywhere else, you shouldn't have any real issues with dryness. Other areas that I didn't moisturize when I used to get it: stomach, legs (upper legs not lower), arms, neck, butt.

Sadly, I think my arms are incurable because it seems that no matter how much I moisturize (even if I do it 10 times a day), it won't disappear. I am currently using 3 moisturizers at once: Dexeryl, Eucerin and Aloe Vera. Enjoy the pics.

Oh and btw: Accutane has really worked well for me. I'm practically clear now (despite a couple of pimples but it's no biggie). I think when I'm done and these rashes disappear then I will be fine :)

Please note in mind that the images might be resized and not show the true detail of the skin. Accutane rashes can look like red splotches and some of them even look like tiny pimples with puss in them. Sadly for me, they started at upper arm, and are now spreading to my hands :( Luckily, they'll be gone soon.

I got that every time I was on accutane. It's from the dry skin. I read it could even be considered eczema. My dr gave me a cream that cleared it up overnight..and I learned that i could prevent rashes returning by keeping lotion on at all times. Ask your dr for a cream for it.

I wish mine would disappear overnight.

The first thing I asked for from my derma was a lotion and so far I've tried 3 different ones. For reference what was yours called?

I am sorry I didn't fully read your post. Looks like you have already tried creams as you said. I am actually starting my 4th accutane course and it's been about 8 years since my last course so I don't remember the name- i am so sorry. I just remember showing them my rash and they right away gave me an rx for this greasy clearish ointment and it worked really well. If you tell me names of what you tried, I would remember the name if I heard it. Once I used the ointment and cleared up the rash, I had to keep tons of lotion on my arms constantly. That's where my rash would breakout- backs of my hands and bottoms of my lower arms..areas exposed to water often. I hope you find some help soon! Do you keep lotion on 24/7?

BTW, my rash looked JUST like yours does. I am sure it was the same thing. The creams you tried, were they creamy or more greasy/clear? I find that the actual thicker greasy/clear work better and last longer and seem to penetrate deeper than the white creams that absorb quickly.
