Is there such a thing as a hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic shaving product? Or a shaving product without oil? Or all 3? That would really be the ultimate shaving product if so. Touche!

Try out kiss my face, it isn't bad. I have also used Barbasol as well with good results.

I'll look into them; thanks. I want something that's minimalistic; I have really sensitive skin, and I tend to shave every day. Shaving every day is one of the worst thiings to do, in terms of the growth of hair; it only encourages growth and for hair to grow even faster, resulting in shaving more. I don't know if this process can be reversed.

Go with Barbasol, it is cheap and doesn't clog pores. You bascially need to stick with foam shave creams, anything that foams up, stay away from gels.

Foams tend to dry my skin out.

Here's a short story of me. Back when I was 19 I had acne, severe at times. I use to shave with foam shave cream. Then during the summer I decided that I was going on a strict diet, no processed foods, no bread, no pasta, no sugars. During those 3 months my face totally 100% cleared up, and I was still shaving with the same foam, but at this time, it did not dry out my skin or cause any irritation. Sounds to me you are very similar to me. I use an electric razor now, no gels/foams necessary, and I would recommend one for you for the time being, a Braun if you can (they are the best out there). The next step would be for you to start an elimination diet to see what foods are causing you inflammation and acne. The first 3 things you need to cut out are: sugar, gluten, dairy. Eat fruits and veggies and meats. Make sure you do your research so you are eating enough, you could easily go on a 30 banana daily diet to help detox your insides. Google search detox with herbs, and make all natural blended smoothies to detox.

Thanks. Yh, my skin is crazy. I have dandruff on my scalp, too. Shaving creams seem to work better for me than gels and foams. If I have a hot bath, and put a flannel over my face, my skin is literally peeling afterwards. It's worse when I've shaved, most likely because the affect of the razor has exfoliated my skin. My skin is also red and blotchy. Always red in the corners of my nose, and just red all over, really. That, dry skin and acne. What a terrible combination. My skin looks scalely because of the scarring as well, but it's just very drab-looking in general; lots of lines in it around my mouth and chin, and they aren't normal wrinkles. Sugar is a culprit for me. I'm still debating about dairy; at times, I believe it's causing horrible texture to my skin. I've already cut out milk but not cheese, and can't really say whether it's an improvement, but I just don't want to drink it anyway. Gluten is a mystery to me. It could well be gluten, but because it's in everything, it's a lot harder to dertime than everything else. I can't help but think of yeast and candida. What else? Oh yh, oils, vegetable oils and cooked oils also break me out.

Basically you don't want to eat: gluten, processed foods, refined sugars, dairy (including cheese or whey), and if you use oil use coconut oil (it is healthier than olive oil). You can still consume meat, I would stick to white meat, fish and chicken. Steam your veggies or boil them for a short amount of time (say 5 minutes). Stop using harsh topicals on your face. They will not help you. What do you use to wash your face? Personally, I use oatmeal...I let it soak for 5 minutes in hot water and then apply it to my face for a wash, do this in a large sink cuz it can get messy. Soaps dry out the skin, they aren't healthy by any means.

I use only water to wash my face, but I shave almost every day with a shaving cream, even though it's natural, but contains natural oils, and that isn't supposed to be good for acne. I read a report that was during world war 2 I think it was, saying how oil used topically clogged pores and caused acne.

Give the oatmeal a try...

I should add if you have gluten allergies get gluten free oatmeal, regular oatmeal doesn't have gluten in them, but big brands process gluten products with oats so that oatmeal probably has gluten on the oats.

Just giving my two cent on this one, but if you're in the UK like me then I would recommend the 'Simple For Men' shaving gel. I've used products from Simple for years and never had any issues with them. They contain oils, but they haven't aggravated my skin in the slightest.

I'm on Accutane, and I don't find the gel to be drying.

Aveeno Shave Gel claims to be non-commedogenic. I've used it before in the past (and still use it to line my beard on my neck) and I think it works very well for my occasionally acneic complexion.

Hey, thanks; I'll check it out. Also might try the SIMPLE shaving gel, since I'm in the UK.
